How do you think the Defense did today?

We only allowed 276 yards when the Raiders average 344.7 a game.

What do you think?

I was happy with their effort, I think they got a bit soft when we got a lead and soft on 3rd and medium, but other then that, solid.

Phenomenal in the first 3 quarters.

Officials screwed us on one drive in the 4th quarter. Then the D folded like a cheap tent on the Raiders last drive. I screamed a cry of anguish when Benny Sapp dropped that interception.

It seemed like the Raiders had the ball forever on that last TD drive of theirs...IM actually glad they scored when they did, because any more time off the clock and we would have been screwed. I was actually one of those screaming to LET THEM SCORE! So we could get the ball back with a decent amount of time.

A key play was DJ forcing Jordan out of bounds with 1:45 left.

I think the defense played ok. Not good, outstanding, or great. They played ok enough to win. Im a harsh critic mind you. I think we did get lucky on some plays. Kerry Collins absolutely stinks under pressure, he made some terrible throws. Even when guys were chasing him but werent close to hitting him, Collins still made bad throws. He gets scared way too easily, and is not patient enough. Lamont Jordan had some drops in where he could've gained plenty if he caught them. Courtney Anderson and a another one of their receivers dropped some passes.

*All these little things add up, and made our defense look good. But imo, they were average. Im a harsh critic, and I think some are overhyping our D a bit.

I still think our D-Line s*cks a**. No pressure. Id like to see Jared Allen play with the same intensity the way he did against the Skins. He didnt bring that same intensity today. We had to blitz to create pressure and were still late getting there. Thank goodness Collins was impatient. The coverage from our secondary was good. DeWayne Washington was our best player today. Mitchell and Johnson played solid today. I wonder whats up with Mitchell? I hope hes not hurt. Hes growing into a pretty solid linebacker.

The only thing holding this D back from being truly outstanding....unlikely to change this year, hopefully next year we can draft and add in some stout free agent pass rushers up front.
