$400 Dell Laptops

There was a thread up here a couple months back for a great deal on some Dell laptops. I can't find it. They were 15 inch and $400. I want to buy one but I can only get search through the first 5 pages of threads and then it is gone. Does anybody know what thread I'm talking about and the link to it?

Check your local Circuit City's for Clearance model laptops..

They are brand new in a box, came out in January or Feburary but all are being forced into to Clearance because of the SP1 models.. We are talking quad core desktops that went for 900 dollars going for 560 brand new..

I bought a laptop for my niece and one for my mom brand new at 197 dollars each.. HP with Athlon chip, it is not the greatest but they just need it for internet browsing..

The tablet has not dropped down in price yet enough for me to buy one.. It has only dropped a couple hundred dollars so far..Waiting for it to get into the the 500-600 dollar range...

When you go in ask the sales person to print out a PSB and tell you which clearance models they have.. You should be able to find a great deal on a new unit..

you just cant live with only 512mb of memory

with vista you need at least twice that .... if not 4 times as much.

The one thing I hate about laptops is the way they place memory.. More then likely that lap top has 2 256mb chips.. And most laptops only have two slots unlike four on desktops..

1gb of ddr2 runs about 30dollars brand new, so it would cost you 60 bucks to run 2gbs in a laptop.. And if you were lucky enough to get a laptop that ran 4gb those ****ing 2gb chips jump up to hundred dollars..

Seems like most laptops these days will run 4gb with vista. 2gb chips are pretty damn cheap now and you can easily get two of them for roughly $80 or less if you hunt for a deal.

From my experiences with my own laptops, 512 is somewhat tolerable in XP but if you plan to typically have more than one application open at a time 1gb is pretty needed. With vista 1gb is pretty painful and with how low memory prices are these days if your laptop will take it I would just upgrade to 3-4gb with after market chips.
