Thoughts going into the bye.
7-4. First in the AFC WEST. Easily could have been 9- 2 at this point with self inflicted wounds snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against the Ravens and Chargers.
If before those games you were told youd be down 1 point under a minute left, ball deep in Raven territory 2nd and 3, youd be all over it. If you were told Patrick Mahomes gets the football 1st and 10 with 2:12 left in the game with LA out of timeouts, tie game, again, youd be all over it. Instead Clyde fumbles the ball away, and Kelce stops running his route. 2 turnovers, 2 losses on 2 bad possessions. Weve been outclassed twice getting pounded by the Bills and Titans in contests where we simply were not prepared to play. Defense has drastically changed , and no, revisionists, it does not now invalidate criticism of Steve Spagnuolo's results early on. He was a ****ing hardheaded moron refusing to believe his shit stunk while thousands in attendance routinely vomited from the stench. The addition of Melvin Ingram has been huge, effectively forcing Jones back inside where he is best. Bolton and Gay are looking like they could be what we all hoped for. Sneed is a stud in the secondary and for the moment at least, Mathieu's vagina has stopped bleeding. Offensively, Creed Humphrey is the best center in the league. Rookie rg Trey Smith routinely takes souls. We have arguably the best interior line in football. That said, Clyde needs to take a back seat to DW. His numbers say hes okay, but the eye test shows he has zero vision. He routinely plows into his line when he could cut or bounce. I havent seen vision this bad since Trent Richardson, also a wasted 1st rd pick. The Chiefs need to commit to Pringle as the 2 and stop trying to insert Hardman, Robinson, and Gordon. Gordon is washed. Hardman is just overcome by full ignant every time he takes the field. Wrong routes, not aware the ball is coming, drops, fumbles, hyper aggressive ignant when he does make a play seemingly begging for a flag to undo his one thing he did right. A gadget player and punt returner not trusted to field punts. To think we could have had DK Metcalf. The Chiefs appear to be on the rise as the rest of the powers in the league are stumbling. We have a week to heal and figure out how to get our receivers to stop dropping passes, and maybe get Clyde Lasik surgery, before we put an assbeating on the visiting donks, led by Teddy Businessdecision. If the defense that Dork Pres**** faced shows up, Teddy will be riding the pine by halftime. This team, with this defense, can run the table if we just figure out how to stop dropping passes we get 2 hands on, and teach Clyde to look for the ****ing hole before charging blindly into the asses of his o line. |

This is a connected thought, concerning the team's hardheadedness when it comes to personnel early on. It is a trend with this team under Reid.
They will roll with some variations of their Week 1 roster for much of the early season on both sides of the ball, before letting the best talent eventually win out by the time November wraps up. I remember this being a trend on the offensive line early on in the Reid tenure, during the Alex Smith era. I think it serves dual purposes. First of all, I think it buys you all kinds of cred with the locker room and the veterans on the team. Allowing the usually-older talent to wither on the vine on the field every October while the more dynamic talent sprinkles in good play and eventually takes the reins buys a lot more credibility with the locker room than people may think, which has got to be one of the reasons the Chiefs have routinely had outstanding locker rooms and have never once had a younger talent vs. older talent factions in the locker room. The vets know Reid is giving them every chance to earn their job. I also think having the slower trigger finger provides the coaching staff the security that they're not moving on too fast and that they really are phasing out ineffective players, and not players who may have slumped for a few games but still can lock down their positions over the course of a season. I do agree, though, that the early play this season should still saddle Spags with blame. His personnel situations early one were abominable. His adjustments since then have legend-potential, and I'm not kidding. Both things can be true. |

I just love the run defense and having faith that teams are not get 5-6 yards without even trying. That in turn has improved the pass rush because we are genuinely seeing 3rd and longs not 3rd and short.
Pass protection still an major worry for me, if the defense turns back into a pumpkin Protecting Mahomes is gong to be key. |

We have left a lot of points on the field. Hopefully we come out of the bye and quit doing that so much.
Yesterday was 4 if not 7 or more. Missed XP Missed FG Dropped pass for INT Every game will have points left on the field but we have done it too much thus far save maybe the Raiders and Eagles games. And really it just comes down to protecting the ball better. |

I'm a little worried, the offense went back into stall mode in the second half yesterday. But i have to disagree on the Clyde/DW thing. They look basically the same. Clyde doesnt see holes, DW isnt fast enough to hit the crease if its there. Its a toss up but ill gamble on the upside.

I'm more worried about how they responded. It's like the magic was just gone and we went back to week 5ish offense. In years past a pick or fumble happens and they come back and keep playing and take the momentum back.

Best defense in the league. Offense still loses itself at times.

1. Good time to heal
2. Bad time for BYE since we have been hot 3. Good time to watch the AFC rejuggle before next game

Thoughts going into the bye... I trust the defense more than the offense all of a sudden.

We just finished a very difficult 3-game stretch. We have some guys that are dinged up, which gives them another week to heal up (we may have Niang and or Remmers back at RT for the Denver game, which would be big). This off week gives us some time to charge the batteries and be ready to finish strong in the last 6 weeks of the regular season.

Knock on wood, but the Chiefs are the healthiest team in the league. Not many guys need the bye to come back from injury. That said, everyone is banged up after 11 games of full contact. And I need a stress free football weekend. Thanksgiving weekend is the perfect time for that. |

CEH was the 32nd overall pick.
The Browns traded UP to #3 overall to take Trent Richardson. “They’re both first round picks” is like saying Patrick Mahomes and Teddy Bridgewater are both NFL QBs. It’s oversimplifying something such that it becomes a misleading sentiment |
