Who would trade for Manning?

The Colts take Andrew Luck #1 overall in April, and decide to auction off Manning to the highest bidder.

Who on earth would be willing to trade for him? We're talking a MINIMUM of two firsts for a guy who will be good for one more season, tops.

What future? Both guys are mediocre QB's that fans of their teams that are growing tired of already. These are 3rd year guys not rooks. Why trade a guy right away when you can keep him around as insurance? It's not like you are going to get great return on them right now. It depends on how the season ends for both teams, but if they continue to get lack luster QB play and Manning checks out as healthy you will for sure hear those two teams mentioned as suitors. In turn Manning isn't want to go to a team that doesn't have a chance do win. So that rules out teams like the Redskins.

FTR... If drafting a quality rookie is out of the question, then I wouldn't mind a trade for far less than two 1st rounders. A second (2012) and a third(2013) would be fair compensation in my opinion.

A lot of responses don’t make sense. There’s no F-ing way Indy gets 2 firsts for Peyton. At this point it would be like the Montana deal in 93. We gave up, what, a 2nd?

And the team that got him would not trade away any other option at QB (like Sanchez for the Jets), unless they flat-out didn’t want him. You either believe in your guy, or you don't.

And the dumbest move mentioned is for the Colts to trade the #1, then look for a QB in 2 years. You don’t pass up franchise QBs when one falls in your lap, just because the timing didn’t PERFECTLY match up. You take the QB that will have you back competing for Super Bowls for the next 15 years, and start getting the ring of honor ready for the old guy.

I'm pretty sure we gave up the 18th overall and receives Montana and Popson in return.

I'd give up a 1 and a 2 for Cutler. I think he could have been had for less than that after last season was over

Washington would clearly make this move imo - but i imagine Peyton would rather retire than play for that squad. Other potential players would be Denver or Seattle, but I think Washington would be first in line to trade for Manning.

Personally, I think this is a moot point and the better question is who will trade their team for Luck. The Colts are ridiculously committed to Peyton and I would lay $$$ that they don't trade him, ever.
