John Dorsey appreciation thread

This is the non-talked about connection between the Browns and Chiefs.

John Dorsey drafted Patrick Mahomes.

John Dorsey drafted Baker Mayfield.

Both QBs now face each other in the divisional round.

Meanwhile, John Dorsey was fired from both franchises and is sitting at home watching.

Let's appreciate this guy's eye for talent - even if he has a penchant for giving huge contract to guys with no spirit!

He made a great trade with the Bills, though Andy was surely part of that process.

Besides that he didn’t do that much

Yep.

Dorsey's biggest fault was that he wanted more power. Most guys in his position do. Thankfully for us, he lost that battle because as good as he is at scouting talent, he's not great at other parts of being a GM.

I don't hate the guy though, I just don't care. He's gone and we're in great shape now so the whole discussion is irrelevant.

I feel like we have the complete package in Veach. I like Dorsey too, but /i feel like Dorsey is a guy a team would want as an assistant gm or second in command. That's where he would thrive.

Because this place is homer planet and is incapable of rational discussion on some subjects.

Acknowledging Dorsey and Kareem Hunt are good are trigger subjects around here for some people. Even though we won a super bowl so nobody should be triggered by anything anymore.

No, that's simply not true.

Nobody cares if you say "Kareem Hunt is good."

People take exception to "Kareem Hunt should still be here" especially when they're also implying that the Chiefs did something wrong by cutting him.

Kareem Hunt is a good player. FACT.

The Chiefs did the right thing by cutting him. ALSO FACT.

Here's how it works: if the personnel guy is with the Chiefs and he is popular with the fans, he gets credit for the players that turn out great. If the players suck, it's someone else's fault.

When the personnel guy leaves the Chiefs, the credit for drafting the good players is transferred to the personnel guy who is still here, but the guy who left assumes the blame for the busts.

John Dorsey is a great hire if you are a bad team without talent, like hey Cincy, lookin at you.

Dorsey was the right GM for the Chiefs when they were coming off a 2-14/Fat Scott disaster, and deserves credit for building the Chiefs back into contention status with Andy Reid.

Ultimately he wore out his welcome with bad salary cap management, poor internal communication issues, etc.

Credit Clark for learning a lesson from the situation with his father/Carl Peterson, in terms of not being blindly loyal to a GM just because of initial success.

Also there is no way Dorsey pulls off what Veach did this past offseason with only $177 in salary cap room.

Also there is no way Veach sniffs the playoffs without Jones, Hill, Kelce , And Mahomes. and be real on Mahomes--- that is Dorsey. The Laundry Factor is strong here. as soon as you aren't wearing red you are evaluated differently. the same way every rookie who makes a play in a preseason game is " the answer" since he has on the Red.

Veach scouted him. Veach campaigned for drafting him.

Dorsey made the trade to go get him.

They ALL contributed. I don't understand why this place ALWAYS has to be yes or no, black or white, either/or.

There's never a room for middle ground.

When it comes to this team, right now, BOTH Dorsey AND Veach are responsible.

False

Jim Schaaf drafted and traded for a metric **** ton of not only Chiefs Hall of Famers but NFL Hall of Famers that appeared in Super Bowl I and won Super Bowl IV.

Carl Peterson drafted multiple Hall of Famer including Derrick Thomas, Will Shields, Tony Gonzalez and most likely, Jared Allen.

John Dorsey had Andy Reid, who ran the Eagles Personnel department for 13 years and drafted multiple Hall of Famers of his own, over his shoulder the entire time. Any offensive lineman pick had Reid's hands all over it. Travis Kelce was a Reid pick, who personally called him and said "Are you gonna **** this up?".

Dorsey had ZERO to do with Mahomes and was fired less than 2 months after the selection was made.
