Hard to punt when they keep going for it on fourth down

then again hard to convince them to punt when they keep being successful at going for it on fourth down

I don't blame them. I would never punt against this Chiefs defense. Has less to do with Mahomes than knowing the defense is weak. Plus, it's an extra attempt at getting the first down. Like another spin at the roulette wheel. I'm surprised it's taken teams around the league this long to start going for it more often.

Exactly!! If the Bills go for it 10 times and convert 5 or more, who cares! Mahomes is gonna pass for 8 tds and the game will be over by halftime!!!

I'm reminded of a conversation that was had in '19.

Stop with attempting to bend and not break defense shit. Just break. Because it's breaking anyway.

Fuggit, go high risk with the defense. All in. If you break, w/e. At least the offense gets the ball back.

Because right now they're just slicing and dicing you to death and the offense sits on the sidelines.

Brilliant philosophy! Have you submitted your resume to the Chief's front office yet?

You realize it IS what the Chiefs did, right? Lol.

In '19 they adjusted after a poor start in which teams were controlling the flow of the game because the defense couldn't get teams off the field. The defense became more aggressive and began taking more chances. They stopped with the bullshit like we saw last week, giving up plays underneath constantly and instead went to more man coverage schemes with creative blitz packages. High risk/high reward. Rather than just letting teams dink and dunk on them and control the TOP and flow.

This isn't some whacky thing i invented. This was being discussed at a national level back then.

Yes I do! I wasn't trying to be sarcastic if it came off that way. It's a great idea and one that has not been implemented enough if you ask me.

Yeah Soren Petro and Eric Eager discussed this a couple days ago.

It works plus it makes for some extremely exciting games.

Re-watching the AFC Championship it’s crazy how much better the defense looked then compared to now with basically the same personnel (Gay didn’t play in that game).

Consistent pressure on Allen, stout coverage, sound tackling… all things we have not seen much of 10 months later despite having the same players (other than Breeland).
