What should Veach accomplish this offseason?

Obviously we will try to keep OBJ and Ingram. Clark and Hitchens are probably gone.
I want Matheiu gone but I’m not sure Spags will let Veach do that. That will be interesting.

I think our #1 need has to be another receiving weapon. Mahomes went through slumps and a big part of that was the shit from Robinson and Pringle. They just aren’t good enough when Kelce and Reek are double covered.

We need to start a youth movement at DL, secondary and WR. Kelce, Jones, Ingram and Matheiu (whether he stays or goes) are starting to get old.

Basically WR, pass rush and secondary. I want Veach to attack those areas hard.

What do you think?

They'll make a splash.

Cox would be one but he's a bit older. I'm not sure about that.

But they'll do something.

I think Williams is going to be to expensive. Give me Reid or Whitehead as our FA safety to replace Mathieu.

I already thought Za’Darius Smith was likely our guy at edge, then I just remembered Joe Cullen was our DL coach.

Yea, I think that’s a good bet.

We should just face the facts. Nobody on this board has any idea what the hell Veach will do.

Hopefully he gets cut then because I don't think I can handle trading for another DE again.

ESPN Predicting Honey Badger's Offseason:

Tyrann Mathieu, S
2021 team: Chiefs | Free-agent rank: 4

Chiefs' offer: Two years, $29.5 million ($20M guaranteed) ... You're going to cement your Hall of Fame credentials here because you're going to help us win another couple Super Bowls. -- Adam Teicher

Jets' offer: Two years, $28 million ($21M guaranteed and one void year attached from an original three-year, $42M offer) ... It's a chance to play in a defensive scheme that gives versatile safeties a chance to shine. -- Rich Cimini

Saints' offer: Three years, $42 million ($28M guaranteed and two void years attached from an original five-year offer) ... You can return to you hometown and play a key role for one of the NFL's top defenses. -- Mike Triplett

The decision: Mathieu picks the Chiefs
This one was really tough. Very similar offers, all very tempting for a variety of reasons. Robert Saleh's defense would be a lot of fun, but I'm just not sure that I'm willing to spend the time with a team that far away from winning at this point in my career. And yes, Louisiana is tempting. But I really like playing in the Super Bowl, and I think staying put in Kansas City gives me the best chance to keep doing that for the foreseeable future. -- Dan Graziano

How he fits: Mathieu feels as much a part of the Mount Rushmore for the current Chiefs' roster as any of their other stars, most of whom have been in Kansas City longer. The whole thing wouldn't feel right without him. The Chiefs could use Mathieu much as they have in past seasons, which means he would fill a variety of roles.

I agree it would be nice to have him back, with some additional help.

Good stuff.

You could still hit on Armstrong and Smith.

Although, I do find Smith a bit of a tough one. As they say about back injuries...

Wouldn't mind him on a one-year rental though.
