You're a walking contradiction all of a sudden.
Draft for need, or don't draft for need? Which is it? Because taking a QB just because you're concerned about next years class is drafting for need, plain and simple. If a QB is there with one of the picks, great. If not, we've just filled FIVE holes on the first day of the draft. |

I'm a little concerned about the most important position on the team, if you build an entire team with no QB you won't win....

We don't HAVE to have a QB in the first round of this draft anymore than we HAVE to have a LT in the first round. |

I think you are too obsessed with rules - teams in situation X cannot trade down, position Y can't be drafted top 10, etc. etc. These rules are bad attempts to make complex, highly variable decisions simple - and I can find historical cases where each of them fail. I understand your schtick, but my suggestion is that you open your mind and embrace the complexity. It will humble you when you realize things aren't as simple as you think. And no one's got a perfect record. Your beloved AJ Smith took Sammy Davis in the first round. And his last 1st round pick in Buffalo (with Jerry Butler) was Erik Flowers. |

Then we'll have people saying we don't have time to develop a QB because the rest of our team is pretty good. |

Half of the teams in the league have a starting QB that was taken in either the 2nd half of the 1st round, or in a later round altogether. Round 1: Rodgers Campbell Brees Pennington Grossman Boller Round 2: Beck Jackson Round 3: Schaub Edwards Croyle Round 4: Garrard Round 6: Anderson Bulger Brady Hasselbeck |

And how many of those guys are legit good enough to win something with? 4?
And how many of those guys are even with the team that drafted them...I count several that aren't... |

![]() I guess all those teams are playing for nothing, Mecca says they can't win with their QB. Nevermind that 9/16 on that list have either led their teams to a playoff game, or had the team in contention for a playoff berth late in the season. There's 6 that have conference championship game experience. |

I guess we should trade for someone elses backup or sign some guy who gets cut and hope we get lucky cause
Hasselbeck Bulger Anderson Schaub Brees Who outside of Brady are the best ones up there, outside of Brees all those guys are traded backups or guys that were cut. None of them are with their original teams. |

Are they starting QB's, or what? I guess Brett Favre's entire career is irrelevant because the Falcons gave up on him prematurely? It's obvious they were initially correct in making the pick, but made a mistake by letting them walk. |

It's the point of what a crapshoot those late round QB's are, it's like the people who harp Tom Brady constantly like it is just easy as heel to pick a QB in the 6th round.
You're much more likely to be the Colts or the Steelers or the Chargers in how they got QB's than the Pats. |
