We are not taking a QB in the first round

Just the official thread stating it. I'm not sure why some of you are already blowing this horn.

Just keep reading the title of this thread until it ****ing sinks in.

And I'm not even a Cassel fan, but he's going to be given more than 1 season to show he is or is not the guy.

I know all the bullshit arguments that will come forth.

"He's not a rookie, he's a seasoned vet" blah blah ****ing blah. I don't give a shit. I'm talking about reality. They gave him 60 mil. Even if Cassel never improves on this season (which I actually think he will, even if I'm not a fan), GM's don't admit to failures that quickly. Pioli will give him every chance to prove that he's right. He drafted him, he signed him to a 60 million dollar contract. Those of you you think that Pioli is going to turn right around and draft a QB with our first pick are ****ing morons. Yes, you are. It's ENTIRELY out of the question so please stop wasting discussion time with it.

Thank you and have a nice new years day.

I'd say Pioli has a responsibility to the fans to improve the overall quality of the organization.

To this point, he hasn't. It's been a complete and total failing on his part.

Pioli's first year has been disappointing ... mostly because the guys he did pick up haven't exactly looked stellar. Also because Haley has looked a bit immature.

Calling it a disaster is a bit harsh since i think they year was clearly an evaluation and transition period designed to give the front office a chance to regroup and not keep spinning their wheels.

What is really gonna hurt is if the lack of CBA prevents the active offseason now required for us.

I think when you have a top 3 draft pick and shell out 60 mill for a QB, you should get a bit more than we have.

Also, Mecca has let the Sanchez thing color his analysis. Only the willfully blind can't see that.
Someone with a longer tenure on the board will have to say for sure, but I haven't seen a fan of another team argue as vehemently in defense of players and executives, of a team he ostensibly doesn't care for, as you have.

This first year for Pioli is epic fail.
They completely revamped the defense by changing from a 4-3 to a 3-4, got rid of the team's best player, brought in a new coaching staff, brought in a new QB, cleared out malcontents, and made move after move over the course of the season, and had to deal with their best remaining wide receiver getting a 4 game suspension because he was stupid enough to fail a piss test.

Despite that, the team won more games than it did last season, and you call it an "epic fail". What's epic is your stupidity on this.

We can certainly disagree on the level of disappointment.

But our GM is supposed to the "the guy." He's the highest paid GM in the league. Given his credentials, he should get no grace period.

At this point, "progress" shouldn't even be arguable, but it is, unfortunately.

LOL he goes to hey they won more games, alright man.

Don't mention we have a head coach that is just as bad as Herm Edwards, the defense is no better and Matt Cassel is essentially a taller more well paid Tyler Thigpen.

Puppet the right 53 with the malcontent argument, and with all those moves that were made 2 guys are better than the guy they replaced and in some cases the guy who got replaced was better than the new guy.

Yes that is a great first season!

I concur with the thread starter. Problem is, the CP faithful are on auto-whine. We could have Peyton Manning and they'd still want to draft a QB.

Could you please for once post something that doesn't make me think you have your head in your ass?

Just once that's all I'm asking.

The last time I checked, this was a forum for talking football, among other things. I'll defend players/coaches that I think are being attacked unfairly. Why should team affiliation make any difference in that?

True...

I think the season was some what of a disaster, but do you think Clark or Scott give two shits about what I say?

When your best acquisition for a team that went 2-14 the year before is a kicker taken in the 7th round, you have failed epicly.

Yes that is a great first season!

Haley is a better coach than Edwards.

The defense is better in some areas, although not all, and only idiots would have expected anything different.

Matt Cassel is a much better quarterback than Thigpen.

Far more than 2 of the players are better than those they've replaced.

So, other than getting just about everything wrong or acting as if the expected was somehow shocking when it occurred, you might have some semblance of a point.

Of course. But it's facetious to try to downplay the notion that Pioli isn't "your guy."

You often seem fairly invested.
