Apparently the Chiefs and Patriots asked the Rams permission to talk to McDaniels according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Just because he's already sunk 28 million doesn't mean he'll just allow Cassel to keep starting. That makes no sense.

Yes, Pioli thought Cassel was a franchise QB. That doesn't mean that after 3 underwhelming years, he can't change his mind.

By "changing his mind" that would signal that he was wrong.

From what I've read about he guy he isn't very good at that.

I can't and won't speak to what Pioli has done at KC, but I can honestly tell you that one of BB's **strengths** is acknowledging that mistakes are inevitable and the best thing to do is move on from them quickly.

First, get extra draft picks because even if you pick well, you'll miss on damn near 50% of them. Extra picks means you're not stuck with them if you do miss. It gives you the luxury to move on.

If you try FAs and they don't work out, dump 'em as soon as possible after they become problems (Adalius Thomas, Albert Haynesworth).

I'd be surprised if Pioli didn't learn this basic lesson. The only thing worse for your team than making a mistake is refusing to move on from it.

How can you say three underwhelming seasons when last year he made it to the pro bowl and this year he only played half a season with nothing but injuries and fail all around him. Arron Rodgers would've looked like Matt Cassell under bill Muir, gimme a break.

I agree about BB.

I hope Pioli does the same thing. I just don't see that happening.

Orton looked fine under that same scenario... without 3 years to get accustomed to the same players that Cassel played with this season. And Orton looked closer to Rodgers, while Cassel resembled Palko.
