As Anyone Using Google Knows, Today Would Be Jonas Salk's 100th Birthday
He developed a vaccine for a horrible, paralyzing disease which had stricken 20,000 children the year before he introduced the vaccine (1957), and only the fear of the atomic bomb was greater in the U.S. according to a PBS documentary of 2009.
