Thank goodness Allen is gone.
If Allen were not traded, the Chiefs don't go 2-14 last year. The Chiefs don't set the record for fewest sacks in a year. The Chiefs don't have massive changes.
CP probably would have stuck it out at least another year. If not, the Chiefs would have probably gone with Kuharich, whom most believed was being groomed to be CP's replacement. With CP or Kuharich, and a decent season, Herm Edwards would be strolling up and down the sidelines right now. The reality is that it took a total shit season to cause the massive changes with the Chiefs. And, with Jared Allen.... the Chiefs would have not had a massively shit season. Heck, with Kuharich, Herm and Allen, the Chiefs would in fact be better than they are right now. I truly believe that. But, they would still be mediocre. This is painful. This is the worst I have ever seen as a Chiefs fan....even worse than the 80's. But, as bad as it is, I would rather build something with Pioli that I think can be great someday, than continue to be a 'decent' team over the next 20 years and struggle to win a playoff game. So, yeah, Allen had a great game last night. (don't forget the line he faced was worse, much worse, than the Chiefs) Allen is a great player. But, the loss of Allen gave us more than just a few picks. It gave us a new GM. It gave us a new head coach. It gave us a new foundation. It gave us a new direction. So, good riddance Jared Allen. |
