Am I the only one who thinks this cap space has more to do with Carl Peterson then Scott Pioli? Outside of the '08 draft we've had I think 2 players in Carl Petersons era get second contracts. The new strategy is to build under the draft. Since you have younger players, they are cheaper, especially with the new rookie scale. CP could have never done that because he drafted so horribly. He was always looking to fill holes with expensive FAs.
