Looking for a quad cab pickup

I've spent the last 6 1/2 years getting the crap beat out of me by my rough riding Dakota and I don't really want another one.

I've seen a few Explorer Sport Tracs that are reasonably priced, but I'm worried that they're cheap for a reason. I know the Explorers of the 90s were garbage.

I do like the Chevy Colorados but the resale on them is ridiculous. Hell I may as well buy a Toyota for what they're going for. And they have a 5 cyl...wtf?

Anybody have any experiences with either of these?

I like those F150 Raptors. But those things are still going from 40-60k. Sheesh.

My suggestion is that if you now require a quadcab pickup you might slow down on eating all that bacon.

That's 1250 gallon difference. At $2.50 gas, that's $3,125 over the life of the vehicle. If you're doing 20,000 miles a year, that is $625/ year. With the added towing capacity, bed size, cab size, comfort, etc., gas really isn't that much. And that's if you get a 4 MPG bump buying a compact, which, unless it's a manual, I doubt you get.
Here's a neat exercise, presuming the US average of 12K miles/yr:

If you have a car that gets 12 MPG (overall) and you switch to a car that gets 24 MPG (overall) you will save more money than you will save by switching from a car that gets 24 mpg to a car that gets 12,000 MPG.

It's not really germane to this particular conversation, but it does kinda show the point you're trying to make - for most people, gas mileage concerns are largely overblown.

I said aluminum body. Still ungodly expensive to smoke off a deer. Might be better in KC, because I'd likely have to drive to KC to get it fixed.

Yeah, typically if you don't buy the bottom tier motor, you're good to go.

Yeah, my FIL used to be one of those guys. When my wife graduated from college him and his brother were jabbering on about how his brother got 30 MPG in his Buick by driving 55 the whole way. It took every ounce of my being to not scream, "you added a half hour to your trip to save like $.75." Mind boggling.

My FIL then went off and bought himself this little tiny assed Jetta TDI that he can hardly get out of just so he could get 40 MPG. Park the Buick, honey, we're taking the Jetta

Something changed though, because a couple months ago he went and bought himself a Silverado High Country. Why? I have no idea.

Wait, this isn't something related to Tinder?

Pretty sure "looking for a quad cab pickup" is a euphemism for something. If not, then it probably ought to be.

I have had zero issues with my 09 F150 Super Crew 4x4. I find it rides like a dream, has plenty of power with the 5.4L and although I get around 12-13 mpg in the city the 19 on the highway isn't that bad. It took about a week to get used to the size but I don't even notice it anymore for zipping around in traffic to parking it. Bought it for $23,000 with 59,000 miles on it. If I was in the market for a new one I would be going with another F150.

I'm on the fence. Looks like I can get a decent F-150 2WD extended cab that's less than 10 years old in my price range. It's not exactly what I want but I could probably live with it.
