Figured I'd get this discussion going sooner than later. Here's your thread to suggest ways to make this place great. This can be anything from new capabilities (though no promises on making anything work), new ways of organizing things, whatever.

As examples, I think we need to figure out a way to meet the desires of people who want calm, in-depth discussion of the Chiefs and people who love a no-holds-barred, in-your-face style.

I also keep thinking about ways to have more unique content, kind of like gblowfish's 10 Things threads. Maybe we could have people write regular features or something like that?

I certainly don't have the answers, but we might as well use the offseason to talk about some cool ideas.

Of all the optimists I can accept that I am by far the most stubborn and can be the biggest asshole of them all, but you are detracting from the problem where posters are prohibited from having an optimistic viewpoint which is treated with the aforementioned horse shit. Trolling should be defined by the TOS, not dictated/interpreted by pressure from the mob.

You need people everyone knows in there to make it work and the backing of the site to pull it off. The rules would be simple. Same as the lounge. Everyone already knows those rules.

Tough to say if it would be a 24/7 thing, but of course the biggest step would be having any kind of presence at all and laying out new rules..... on one hand, I'd like to believe laying out those new rules and enforcing them for a few weeks would do the trick. OTOH, given the current state of my facebook feed, that might be a bit naive.

I agree with the bolded part. But you admit that you're stubborn and an asshole about how you approach your viewpoints while at the same time not wanting to take any blame.

I have nothing against you. I believe I've even mentioned that when you're not discussing Alex that you can put together some decent football discussion. But when it comes to Alex, you are just as big of a problem as the people you're complaining about.

I can respect your viewpoint on this, but consider that those of us in the minority that are insulted/ridiculous/harassed constantly by a large crowd, it's only natural to start to play on their level when we don't want to.

the previous discussions on this had everyone agreeing that it would take awhile to change the culture. There would be people pushing the boundaries for a while. But, if the Romper room was resurrected, it would go a lot smoother.
