2 preseason games does not a HOF career make but he has looked great so far. Want to see how he reacts on his first pick/pick 6, see if he can put it behind him and move on or if he dwells on it for a series or to.

He still looks uncomfortable under center, but you have to admit there's something special about him. Grade B right now.

It's pretty clear that Andy is working on getting him to be a better QB in the pocket.

His footwork was really bad his first play, but later his strike to Hill and then the strike to Chesson were both great throws in the pocket wth great form.

The Chiefs have NEVER had that much talent at that age on the QB roster until now.

If the Kid keeps working as hard and diligently as he has been, he will surpass Smith's much vaunted "wisdom/experience"-selling point by the end of next season.

He's already passed Smith by on the roll out in terms of what he can produce with it.

Mark it in your day runner:

Sunday, Aug 20th, 2017; Sweet Daddy Hate proclaims that the Kansas City Chiefs have finally done something right.

HUZZAH!

He is more comfortable throwing on the run than in the pocket. In particular he loves rolling to his left and throwing cross-body. But to be truly successful he will need to make 90% of his plays in the pocket.

By Smith standards, he doesn't need to stay in the pocket to be successful.

But **** that.

Yes, he needs to get comfy back there and I have ZERO doubt that he will achieve it.

This.

How many ****ing times has the case been laid out? You don't need the all-world O-line if your QB has some skill. Good God I hope Mahomes will open some peoples eyes. This shit is LONG overdue.

I imagine he'll be pretty awesome with the 1st team O-line.

77 almost ended our future. That guy is horrible. He is probably still walking funny due to repeated rape.

And God... a full season of leading the scout team as the primary backup? THAT'S the shit that will turn Mahomes into a balanced QB and accelerate his knowledge of the offense.

One game of preseason isn't going to destroy his path for developing the "right" way. That's just completely ridiculous.
I didn't say it would destroy his path to developing. I have no doubt he's going to improve a lot (and he's already damn good for the NFL). But despite all the training in the world, we don't know yet if he's going to be a freelancer as plan B or plan A. He'll have a very successful career using it as a plan A so it's not like it's a bad thing.

In watching the game yesterday, I had goosebumps thinking about how good he'll be. But I also got to thinking about Andy's best 2 QBS - Favre and McNabb - and how much Mahomes resembles them in so many ways. Both of them tough as nails but they got the bejesus knocked out of them in their careers.

I have the game taped, but haven't re-watched it yet. I did, however, just check the play by play from ESPN, and the Bengals had at least some of their #1 defense on the field on Mahomes's first TD drive.
