Yesterday. YESTERDAY you'd give up no more than a 7th for him. Today a 5th is 'a great value'. C'mon man, you're sucking dick for the sake of sucking it here. This is fine - there's no reason to castigate Veach and in fact some credit is due for recognizing a need and attempting to upgrade it. But folks are going HAM for no real reason right now.

You're right, I have the Ragland trade listed for next year instead of 2019.

That helps.

If we can trade Alex Smith at some point that will be a huge boost for next year's draft. I hope Mahomes proves he's ready in time for a Smith trade.

BV is one intense, passionate and competitive guy based on his words and body language from his limited time in video interviews that I have seen. That is the first thing I look for are the type of words he uses, demeanor/tone in how he say's them and his body language. And you are seeing his intense, passionate competitiveness on display these past few days as we speak.

your missing the 4th rounder. And right now, I'm happy with all those trades. The 1st rounder is the only one that really matters anyway and what the hell are those for if not to draft a QBOTF?

You got me. Of course, it was massive hyperbole but I said it, nonetheless.

The reality is that I doubt they could have drafted an offensive lineman in the 5th round of the 2018 draft that has as much upside as Erving.

1 great starter and 1 good ST drafted with our 5th round picks in this regime.

I am all for this with the roster being as set as it is. Get rid of Jah Reid and save money with this kid as a reserve. Fulton, Witzmann and Erving make me feel very comfortable at backup.

Zach Fulton is most likely gone after this season, so Erving being here for a year to learn our scheme and bulk up as a cheap 2018 backup G/C is great. We can draft another guy next spring to develop for 2019.

Chiefs acquire OT/C Cameron Erving from Browns for 5th-round pick

The Chiefs weren't one of the teams I highlighted that could trade for Cameron Erving, as they didn't have a need at center or right tackle. However, Erving was acquired to serve as a versatile backup. He can play four of the five positions up front. He can't play those positions well, but he can at least be penciled into the lineup at four spots.

Erving has been a complete failure thus far as a former first-round pick, routinely whiffing on blocks and getting called for penalties. However, he does have talent, so motivation has been an issue. Perhaps being with a winning organization will help him make something out of his career. We've seen it with Greg Robinson, who has improved in Detroit after floundering with the Rams. For a fifth-round pick, why not take a chance on him?

As for the Browns, it's nice that they got at least something for Erving. I get the sense that they were going to dump Erving during final cuts, so it's great that they received a fifth-round pick for him.

Grade for Chiefs - B+
Grade for Browns - A-

That's my thought. Eric Fisher isn't a top 5 OT but he isn't horrible. If Fisher had been moved around every position on the line he would have probably been pretty shitty as well. Let the guy focus on tackle. He certainly wouldn't be the first player to struggle early on but turn it around.

FYI you don't want Erving playing tackle. He was a complete dumpster fire this preseason.

He's played guard before and he's vastly more talented than anyone we have at LG currently. He's gonna start. Watch.
