Do you have stored away ?

A survival kit, something for a catastrophic event that could last for a week or two, maybe into a month.

Let's list the things one would need to have on hand, things maybe not listed on the basic survivor's list.

A geomagnetic storm is going to wipe out solar panels for anybody that has her house rigged up so that's something to think about.

If one was heading our way from the sun we would have a day's notice to properly unhook all powered supply items in your house. If you have generators you can run for a while providing you have the fuel supplies to last.

Many country folk could survive but the urban area would not. They do not have access to everything or the knowledge to do so. In this world of convenience, people have gotten lazy and would not know how to survive.

You can get EMP-hardened solar power systems. Or the more fun way to prevent this would be to build a Faraday cage around your house.

Nothing but stuff for 3 or 4 days to handle a power outage or bad snow.

I figure if everything really does goes into the dump i don't want to prolong the pain. I'm not a guy who could really help rebuild the world. I could crank out some kids if the population is gone, but that's about it.

Even more reason to go as remote as you can if this were to happen. Being around highly populated areas is a death sentence for most.

You're the perfect candidate for this thread, lets start with what do you keep in the truck?

I live in an area with earthquakes and extreme weather. I freely admit I don’t have everything I need but I am also in a more rural area with several acres of property. I should get a generator to run my well but I have a couple of wood burning stoves for heat. They help lower the gas bill.

I have grocery staples for roughly 2 weeks, plenty of firearms and ammunition, tarps, ropes, gasoline and other equipment. There are some good books on Amazon about disaster prep and I am slowly accumulating/acquiring what I would need for an earthquake that would mess things up for a couple of weeks.

I don’t really have a bug out bag because in my situation, what’s the point? I’m far enough away from the mainland that political upheaval is not as likely to reach us. If it does, I think I’m better off staying put than trying to go somewhere. My state has the lowest population density in the US and one of the lowest population densities in the world so there’s room but it would be really tough to live off the land here. On the other hand, I have a good network of friends. We can support one another and trade for things we need. As one example, I usually get a cord of wood delivered each fall. The guy comes by in mid October usually. This year he’s super busy and way behind. This year we’ve had severe cold quite early so my wife and I put the word out and very quickly friends came through.

Meh. You could be sitting on decades of supplies, but it's still going to require a shitload of luck just to survive if it really does hit the fan. You can't really properly prepare for something that unexpected. Odds get exponentially worse the more family you have to protect and provide for. Bug out bag and weapons be damned, you're still probably gonna die soon.
