Any good email templates for asking for raise?

Does anyone have a decent email template to use for asking for a raise?

The ultimate hammer is a job offer from someone else.

Like edave said you have to be able to be ready to pull the trigger if you play the card as a hard call. If you don’t, they’re liable to low ball you because if they’re like me they’re feeling bombarded from all angles.

I’m presuming you know what you’re worth.

If it were me I’d probably say something along the lines of,

….Todays environment … compensation rising… inflation … don’t want to leave the company to find a better offer…. companies are paying X for Y. …appreciate the opportunity and want to stay in my current position.

An email is way too easy to just ignore.

I would keep it short (I wouldn't list a bunch of your accomplishments) and point out that you've either never asked for a raise before or that it has been x amount of time since you requested a raise.

Depending on how long that was. If you asked for a raise last month, I wouldn't include that.

Dear (insert McDonalds mangers name), I have worked my way up from bathroom/dining room attendant, to French fry station operator over the last 5 years. I’m very happy to have moved so quickly up the chain of command. I feel now that you’re also letting me stock the line in my spare time that I’m worthy of a raise. The .10 cent raise I got 2 years ago when I got moved to the fry station was awesome, and has helped me support my family. But I feel another raise is in order with my new added production. I have an offer from Wendy’s (across the street), and they’re willing to give me another .25 cent raise. It would be a sign of you wanting to keep me here if you would at least match their offer. If not, I may have no choice to talk to them about employing me. I hope we can keep this relationship going, I’m a very hard worker.
