Kind of weird that one of our highest paid and best players is likely rooting for the team to lose.

Makes extending him really hard to swallow.

Probably not a great strategy on a Mahomes team.

Sure can I think that fits well! Cullen coached that Baltimore DL and used the same scheme as Meyer’s DC in Jacksonville so he’s used to having a 315+ NT with the same size type as the 2I or 3T DT with a Jones type or Calais Campbell type as the 4I/5T DE as their front 3. So it won’t be built like a typical Ravens or Ryan scheme but have a DL coach that can utilize two 320+ guys out there that aren’t the pass rusher CJ95 is but he can blend it with what Spags likes. They will work with what they have at least until Omenihu gets back. Everyone of those Ryan defense’s went to shit because the DCs couldn’t adapt with the exception of Martindale who was able to adjust to the new offenses. Cullen did a respectable job as well in his lone season as a DC in jville

The Lions are a gap scheme team, which is great against light fronts that don't blitz. I could see the Chiefs mixing in enough blitzes to cause some problems.

Biggest thing is that Goff just isn't the same guy on the road that he's been at home as a Lion, even in 2021.

Detroit will put up points, but it doesn't have the D to handle the Chiefs' combination of Mahomes magic + Reid scheme wizardry + OL strength.

I get that Jones' last real card to play is "try to win without me and see how it goes!" but I just don't see that going where he wants it to go.
Exactly. That attitude is going to piss off so many of the people he’s been to battle with. His agents are too stupid to tell him to stay off social media. He’s just going to continue to look douchy and piss people off. That should have been crystal clear from the beginning. Hey Chris, in order to get this thing where we want it to go you’re gonna need to stay off all the twitter shit. Couple of amateur slapdick agents couldn’t even get step number one right

I know PFF isn’t gospel by any means, but here are the OL rankings of our first 8 opponents…

5 - Lions
26 jags
21 bears
23 jets
15 Vikings
11 broncos
9 chargers
11 broncos

Wbf

8-0 is still on the table through that stretch without Jones

This is well beyond the team’s overpaying Frank Clark or Eric Berry’s not feeling healthy enough to play at a level he felt comfortable with. This is a very conscious decision of his to attempt to make the team worse for his own ends.

I don’t think we’ve begun to scratch the surface of vitriol this fan base may end up having toward Chris Jones. I think we’re all largely in shock it’s come to this.
All of the pressers here lately have the same theme - ‘we’re gonna win with the guys in the building.” The off-season is over and they’re moving on to Detroit. Jones’ heels are dug in and it’s not like he reported to camp in a hold-in and is gonna bail on the regular season. This isn’t a conscious course change on his part. There’s no way Chris Jones wants the Chiefs to lose games.

This thread got a little echo-chamber-y and there’s some overreaction based on news articles with dubious sources. Four days until football man, let’s turn the page.

Is Jones' agents (or Jones himself) not aware of how this tactic worked for Tyrann Mathieu, Tyreek Hill, or Orlando Brown? This really is kind of fascinating to watch go down.

That’s the thing about negotiating with assholes.

They’re 100% in the right, despite all evidence to the contrary.

No amount of new information or rational argumentation is gonna move them off their position.
