A Level Headed Review Week 4 2023

I'll preface this weeks review with the fact I was unable to watch the 3rd Q.

1. Isaiah Pacheco - his vision just keeps getting better and better. I have been waiting for him to break a long TD run. Seemed like he was always one defender or one juke away from breaking a long TD. We saw that tonight with an amazing lead block by Smith. 100+ yards on the night was really the workhorse of the game. I feel like he will be a 1200 back for us this year.

2. Patrick Mahomes - 2 Interceptions that just didn't make a whole lot of sense, the fumble on the snap 1st down was pure luck. But Patrick being Patrick puts the team on his back when it really counts and runs for 25 yards on 3rd and 23 and again on 3rd and 10 at the end of the game. Screw the score slide down and drain the clock. Love watching Patrick extend plays but I feel like the Jets played the back yard ball well tonight.

3. Defense - Not sure what happened but early on the Defense was dominating and as the game went on they seemed to regress until the 4th quarter. It was almost like maximum effort in the 1st and 4th Quarters and sleep walking in the 2nd and 3rd. Chiefs got lucky on some dropped TD passes and a missed FG. Wharton being Johnny on the spot with the fumble recovery really sealed the NYJ fate. Brian Cook had a nice open field tackle on the Hall run and Mike Edwards almost had a nice pick.

4. Offense- gotta clean up the holding, work on some red zone scoring - none of the WR's are getting open. Not sure what the problem is but our leading receivers were Kelce (60 yards), Pacheco (43 yards), Gray (34 yards), Rice (32 yards) and Toney (22 yards). This is unacceptable. MVS, Watson, and Moore all just disappeared in the passing game. There was no respect for our WR's they were playing man most of the night their secondary was keeping our WR's in check for the most part. I'll admit I had no idea that any offensive penalty in the End Zone was a Safety - I thought it was only holding - even thought the face mask was initiated outside the End Zone the refs decided to give the Safety anyway.

5. Washington again did a phenomenal job on punts. After the first game and last season it's nice to have some solid play at the PR position.

6. I'll need to rewatch the game but surprisingly no illegal formation calls. Not sure if that was our adjustment or the league got the message from Andy.

7. Mecole Hartman didn't get any receptions. Not sure how many snaps he played but he isn't really factoring into the NYJ Offense.

PM2 certainly seemed flustered in the 2nd half. Hopefully only temorary but you guys are certainly hurting at WR right now and the only one I can see that may reliably step up in Rice.

Cincy & Buffalo aren't looking great right now either so that's in the Chiefs favor. Honestly think your biggest worry at this point may be Miami.

Did you not watch Buffalo blow out Miami yesterday? I had the wrong side of that one too.

I was doing some fishing yesterday and only caught the night game. Didn't even check the other scores yet but that's suprising. I'm gonna have to watch the highlights on that one.

My biggest thrill of last night was seeing Pacheco fulfill some promise

We all knew he was fast and powerful, but he hadn't put it all together to really pop a big one until last night... his maturing instincts, speed and vision were all on display

Miami has some talent and Fangio but their D has been dog shit so far.

Maybe they turn it around later and if they do, sure.

It was on here. Started out a good game, then it wasn't. Tua turned to shit and Josh Allen was on fire.

Fortunately for Miami very few teams can slow down that offense. They will have to be the 2018 Chiefs and just outscore everyone. A solid offense will give them all sorts of problems.

Correct - I didn't include the 100% snaps guys - Mahomes and the whole starting OL is missing as well

*EDIT* whoops I see what you are saying - from what I am seeing 59 was 100% of snaps
