Trade ideas.

I'm just going to throw some thoughts out there. Tell me which ones you think are worth looking into.

RB Larry Johnson

Worth: A pair of midrounders.
Probability: I'm willing somebody bids on him, but I doubt we'll get a 3rd.

QB Brodie Croyle

Worth: Low-rounder at best.
Probability: Very unlikely somebody wants to spend a pick on him.

TE Tony Gonzalez

Worth: 3rd.
Probability: It is very likely that someone will bite on Tony G for a 3rd.

OG Brian Waters

Worth: Leadership and Pro Bowl selection raises his worth -- somebody might drop a 3rd for him?
Probability: Only if some team out there goes all Jets this offseason. Who knows.

OT Herb Taylor

Worth: 5th.
Probability: Young guy with a lot of promise that may not fit on our OL anywhere. Some team might go for that, but 4th seems unlikely.

DE Tamba Hali

Worth: who the hell knows
Probability: Somebody would surely bid on Hali, but who the hell knows how much he's worth. His youth and past production offsets his awful year, but some team that needs a complimentary DE might drop as much as a 2nd or 3rd for him.

SS Bernard Pollard

Worth: 4th, due to youth and experience.
Probability: It's uncertain if there's a real strong demand for somebody like Pollard. Like Hali, his poor play would be offset by his youth and time on the field, but I don't think we'd get offers much higher than a midrounder, if any at all.

Where would you put these guys' value?

Thoughts.

LJ: 4-5. one pick
Croyle: half a doughnut.
Gonzo: 3. one.
Waters: 6.
Taylor: conditional 7.
Hali: 4-5. one.
Pollard. 6-7. one.

In short, beyond Gonzo, I see very little value here.

That's fair. Although I will say that teams may look at Hali and figure he's a great 2nd DE on the strongside.

That COULD BE worth something. Don't know if it's worth a 2nd, but it's worth something.

Just a thought.

most of these guys are worth more to us than any other team or the draft pick we'll get from them.

I agree that Hali is a nice rotational DE. Sucks for us that he happened to be a first rounder. He's an NFL player, though, which is more than we can say about many a draft pick we've had.

RB Larry Johnson - He's maybe worth a conditional 4th round pick....depending on if he stays out of trouble off of the field and performs like the LJ of old.

QB Brodie Croyle - He's worth nothing. He's shown that he can't stay healthy. No one really is going to take a chance on this kid.

TE Tony Gonzalez - I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Tony is worth at least a 3rd....possibly a 2nd because of how he played this year. I would think that there are a couple of teams that would give up a 3rd and 5th/6th for him.

OG Brian Waters - He's maybe worth a 4th or a 5th. I still don't see us trading him though...especially with the holes we need to fill on the O-line.

OT Herb Taylor - 6th at the most. He's shown that he can come in and play in a situational role but we haven't given him the opportunity to show if he can play full time.

DE Tamba Hali - He's maybe worth a 4th round pick. He hasn't shown anything but flashes and he's shown that he really can't stay healthy either.

SS Bernard Pollard - 5th/6th - Only due to the fact that he's a great special teams player.

Thoughts.

if we can get a couple more games like the San Diego games. It looked like he was finally healthy or that tackle sucks. Either way we need more strips

It's laughable that anyone thinks a team would give any more than a conditional 7th for Tamba Hali, Bernard Pollard or Herb Taylor. Brodie Croyle has NO value. Brian Waters wouldn't get more than a 5th or 6th - AT BEST. Remember we traded a 4th (conditional 3rd) for All-Pro, future HOF, LEFT TACKLE (not a guard like Waters) Willie Roaf. Tony Gonzalez isn't going anywhere, either. We would never get near the value in picks equal to what he brings to the team.

Rule 1 - Don't trade players where you don't have viable backups unless you are going to get great value for them.

RB Larry Johnson

- Probably worth a 4th round pick. Do not trade. He can still run the ball. KC would probably have to burn an earlier draft pick to replace him.

QB Brodie Croyle

Worth - maybe a 7th rounder. Trade him.

TE Tony Gonzalez

Worth: 4th round. IIRC only one team was willing to give a 3rd for him this year. He's a year older. Do not trade. Cottam has not proved to be a good replacement for TG.

OG Brian Waters

The OL has enough problems. Why trade away a solid player who has another year or two. Focus on the C, RG, RT.

OT Herb Taylor

He's the only backup that seems to have potential. Why trade it for a 5th round crapshoot?

DE Tamba Hali

Sadly, he's the best DE on the team. Keep him for now at LDE.

SS Bernard Pollard

Not worth more than a 6th. Why not keep him as a backup?

Exactly esp gonzo and waters.
I think youd really have to hit a homerun with a 3rd round pick to let waters go.

Probability: Conditional 4th, at best.

QB Brodie Croyle

Worth: Are you ****ing kidding?
Probability: See above

TE Tony Gonzalez

Worth: 3rd.
Probability: We're not trading him now.

OG Brian Waters

Worth: Still has a few years in the tank, probably a 3rd or 4th.
Probability: Don't see the value in getting rid of your 2nd best lineman for a mid-round pick

OT Herb Taylor

Worth: Huh?
Probability: See above.

DE Tamba Hali

Worth: Wow. Hard to say. Probably a 3rd at best.
Probability: Not going anywhere. Will see a huge jump in production with health and better coaching, IMO.

SS Bernard Pollard

Worth: Late, late rounder.
Probability: No one is going to trade for a STer.

My thoughts.
