What's with the Thigpen fixation?

I think the Thigpen love is just a product of the QB phobia some fans have. Some people just expect perfection from QB prospects and are deathly afraid of drafting a QB high. No NFL prospect is perfect and if you are looking for an excuse not to draft a player, you are always going to find it.

Same could be said for the "anti-Thigpen" crowd too, I would guess.

Perhaps some people are demanding too much from him, but I still don't know how anyone can think that Thigpen has shown enough to pass up on a potential franchise QB. He's only played out of the spread, and he has horrible footwork and accuracy. He certainly has room for improvement, but I don't see franchise QB potential in him. I think that if you don't have a franchise quarterback, you cannot pass on one in the draft.

And I tend to agree with all of this. I hope we draft a QB if Pioli and Haley see a franchise QB at #3. No question about it.

There are obviously some that don't feel there is one. Same way you don't feel that Thigpen is one.

Both opinions are just that.

I might have some more respect for the other guys opinions if they read the draft forum enough to have a reasoned draft take.
