Do you want Chris Chambers re-signed?

I would really like him back. I know he's older, but he runs great routes and still has some speed to make things happen. I'd actually try to lock him up for 2 years now instead of letting him go out in FA.

He would be a much, much better option than going out and drafting Dez Bryant that high.

Let Wade go, get another slot receiver to go with Lance Long and these receivers might not be so bad.

Thoughts?

I like Danario but, unless he runs a 4.5 at the combine I wont be impressed because he looks slower than dirt on gameday. I wont be surprised if he runs a 4.75 at the combine. But that is just me eye-balling his speed from the numerous times I've seen him play.

seriously? The dude runs a 4.5, and ran a 4.4 before his last knee injury. He averages 43 yards per TD, and he has 12 TD. Did you not see him outrun 3 K-State defenders, 2 which had angles on him 2 weeks ago? He has like 6 60 yard TDs, mostly YAC, and he's slow? 92 catches, 1,411 yds, 15.3 avg & 12 TD is more than just being a possession receiver.

It just doesn't look like he's as fast because he's a long glider.

I'd love to see us re-sign him, ideally a two year deal with a team option for a third, but the way he's been playing has opened eyes around the league. I fear he'll get plenty of offers from potential contenders, which could make our ability to re-sign him dependent on our willingness to overpay...

I'm not worried about the cap. I said that we have more than enough cap space to sign him. My greater concern is the Chiefs signing Chambers to a long-term deal and thinking that he's any kind of long-term answer and/or taking away opportunities from a younger guy who might out play him in the future. The fear is that Pioli sees we have Chambers and Bowe and doesn't think getting younger at receiver is a priority.

We could throw 10 million a year at the guy and it would not affect our ability to sign anyone else.

If he keeps playing like he is now, I have little doubt that Pioli would let him walk.

Isn't every year a "team option" year? I mean the team can cut the player anytime they want. Most football contracts aren't guaranteed. Heck, you can sign him for 5 years. I doubt he sees the 3rd year. But I'd still like to see the Dolphins get him.

I was under the impression that contracts could be structured to allow teams to make the last year of the contract's guaranteed $ dependent on an option held by the team. I may be using improper language... I would think this formula would deter disputes about the final year of a front loaded contract, as well as give a team more flexibility on evenly spread guaranteed $...

I would want him back. But...does his play/numbers here in KC make him want to shop around and look for a bigger number? It's not just Clark and Scott's decision. He will want to stay at a "Chiefs" proposed number. If he is offered a lot more money by someone else he is dumb not to go, and the Chiefs would be dumb to tag him. There are teams that throw silly amounts of money at "hot" players (Redskins, Raiders etc...) and if he continues to perform at this level he will get interest from other teams.

JUST SAY NO TO MIZZOU WR'S. Will Franklin, anyone?

*chill out MU homers, I'm just ****ing with ya

Anyhow, hell yes lock up Chambers. He's been a fantastic addition to our offense, and can only help to free Bowe up. Hell, it's great having two WR's that are big and physical enough to go up after the ball. I'm sure Cassel loves the shit outta Chambers. Dude saves his ass, and makes big plays.

I don't know if Dez Bryant is seriously over-hyped or not, suppose we'll find out come combine time, but if we aren't going after another legit WR in next year's draft then we'll be ****ed without Chambers.
