When asked why Brian Westbrook didnt see any playing time last Sunday, NFL 49er Insider Matt Maiocco replied:

Jimmy Raye has not figured out a way to get him involved. When Westbrook came to the 49ers, Raye said he did not know much about Westbrook, so he was going to have to see him in practice and decide how best to use him. Westbrook has not been 100-percent healthy, so that feeling-out process has been stalled. Also, Frank Gore is not a liability on any down. He's the team's best running back on base downs, short yardage and third downs. But, still, they must find a way to get both of them on the field at the same time. Seeing Westbrook sit all 60 minutes in the opener was unacceptable.
