Pioli's offseason.

* He franchised Hali at the start of it.

* He drafted the following:
1. WR Jonathan Baldwin + a 3rd
2. C Rodney Hudson
3. OLB Justin Houston
3. DE Allen Bailey
4. CB Jalil Brown
5. QB Ricky Stanzi
5. OLB Gabe Miller
6. NT Jerrell Powe
7. FB Shane Bannon
* Vrabel retires. (Pioli's commitment to youth at OLB at least a contributing factor.)

* Signed Casey Wiegmann.

* Brought in a dozen UDFAs, including three people I would imagine will make the roster: DE Brandon Bair, OT David Mims, and KR Demond Washington.

* Signed Steve Breaston.

* Brought back Battle, Cox, Copper, Pope, O'Callaghan, Daniels, McGraw, and Langford.

* Brought every rookie but Houston into camp on time.

* Richardson, Gilberry will sign their tenders. Carr is holding out as of this moment.

* Signed Kelly Gregg.

* Sign LeRon McClain.

* Locked up Hali long term.

This is a typical offseason for Pioli. Discipline, discipline, discipline, and hold out for value at every turn.

As a result, we can say that this team has been moderately improved for 2011 by these moves alone, but that the biggest improvement will be for all this youth to see the field and as it improves, the sky's the limit.

Bravo.

To me the biggest issue that remains unresolved from last year is what happened to the offense the last 3 weeks.

Once it was announced that Weis was leaving the offense became anemic and the playcalling questionable. Did Weis mail it in? Did Haley take over the playcalling? I'm hoping Weis mailed it in, because if it was Todd's fault, KC could be in for a world of hurt his year.

I enjoyed the hell out of it, but we're not there yet, and I really don't think we'll get 10 wins this season.

EDIT: Oh and I do think that late season bashing will fall on Cassel's shoulders, not Pioli. jmo
of course it will... It wouldnt be CP if it didnt...

And I am predicting 11-5 or better this year...

Ballsy.

If they win that many games with the schedule they have, they're a legitimate threat for the championship.

sure beats being on the CP debbie downer wagon all the ****ing time...

If they dont make it? So what?

Cant they do it? Sure why not... Everyone wants to cry about the schedule, but lots of things change in the NFL year after year...

Not one person here knows the seasons outcome.... Sure its easy and convenient to play the "they suck" and "I told you so" at the end, but I think they have a chance to be a pretty solid ball club this year.

For sure a team on the rise, excited about this season.

I was to see where we stack up with the big boys...

Like I said Carl stayed on twice as long as he should have. Ten years would have been enough. AJ Smith had done a good job in San Diego. It's time for him to move on now. 2019 is the time I'm suggesting Pioli's replacement should be close at hand. Clark needs to keep one eye open to the future GM

Except Carl didn't get it done. If Pioli wins Superbowls and keeps us competitive, then I hope he's here for 50 years.

Most GMs are around less than 10 years.

Nice take! I'm anxious to see how this season plays out as well! I really think we can surprise again this season.
