Final thoughts on preseason

This team just looks better. Just all around, even our suck is better than our suck in years past. You can tell we have a staff of coaches that know wtf they are doing. It's refreshing as we haven't seen that since the DV days when you get to it.

Obviously we haven't played a meaningful down yet and you can tell that there is room to improve but I think everyone is getting the sense that we are doing just that, improving. Worst to first? Most likely not but in this division it may not be unreachable.

Offense:
Running game looks rather weak but we were without JC against SF and went against the Steelers the next game. 2 very, very good defenses. So is our running game that bad or were we facing good defenses? Probably some of both.

Smith is going to be the proverbial game manager and if his preseason is any indication of what is to come that can suffice for now. His throws are accurate and receivers aren't jumping, reaching, diving, or sliding to catch passes ala Cassel. Don't turn it over, control the clock, rest the defense. That is a winnable recipe even if it is a boring one.

Tyler Bray......kid is going to be good in 2-3 years. If he pays attention to who he is learning from, we are going to have a bad ass QB.

Defense:
Its on! This defense is getting after it and though it may be a feast or famine defense, it's obvious that the days of Romeo's read-react defense is gone. This is attack, attack and attack some more. I think Poe and TJax are going to take big steps in the right direction this year.

Special Teams:
What can you say? They looked awesome all preseason long.

I see shades of Marty ball coming with a ball control offense, relentless defense and strong special teams. We just replace the power running with dinking and dunking in the passing game.

But in the mean time I'm ok with Marty-ball style football if it means getting to the playoffs quickly.
Even if you are a fan of Bray, you should be more a fan of Bray sitting on the bench for a year or two than a fan of Alex getting hurt. Bray would likely fail miserably if he were thrown in now. Let him sit and learn.

Okay. Who are you, and what have you done with pete?

Let's run a test: what did you think of the officiating, Pete?

The special teams were very good.

Rest of the team...meh.

Seeing our first team offense get worked by the 49ers (and their backups) and Steelers, outside of one drive, was disgusting.

Defense was good against San Francisco's backups, and shit against Pitt's starters.

Anybody know what's up with the Chiefs policy of not letting you take your bottle of water out of the stadium? There were multiple stadium employees forcing people to either drink or throw away their bottles of water. And it didn't look like it was going over very well. You can take a bottle of water in, but apparently not back out again. WTF?

Come on, Dane......Smith did throw for 3000 yard and 27 TD's against 2 playoff teams and the defense allowed the other teams to score regardless of how little.

That's a clear fail

Zombo started GB SB team - he's more of a utility guy - but I'm amazed that his skills match his spectacular sounding name.

Oh we'll. if we found on video that he actually did knock it lose, it would be a "who cares they still suck".

With the way the rules are now, and passing the easiest it has ever been in the NFL for Qb's to get gaudy stats, I say trial by fire over sit and learn. I just think if he gets 'shelved' by Reid for a couple years, because he was not a 1st round draft pick (or draft pick at all), I think he will get cut before he gets a legitimate chance. Just my opinion though.

Flowers didn't knock the ball loose. The receiver lost control of the ball as he hit the ground.

Our secondary got worked in that game, against a team without a #1 receiver, and it was pretty scary.
