Final thoughts on preseason

This team just looks better. Just all around, even our suck is better than our suck in years past. You can tell we have a staff of coaches that know wtf they are doing. It's refreshing as we haven't seen that since the DV days when you get to it.

Obviously we haven't played a meaningful down yet and you can tell that there is room to improve but I think everyone is getting the sense that we are doing just that, improving. Worst to first? Most likely not but in this division it may not be unreachable.

Offense:
Running game looks rather weak but we were without JC against SF and went against the Steelers the next game. 2 very, very good defenses. So is our running game that bad or were we facing good defenses? Probably some of both.

Smith is going to be the proverbial game manager and if his preseason is any indication of what is to come that can suffice for now. His throws are accurate and receivers aren't jumping, reaching, diving, or sliding to catch passes ala Cassel. Don't turn it over, control the clock, rest the defense. That is a winnable recipe even if it is a boring one.

Tyler Bray......kid is going to be good in 2-3 years. If he pays attention to who he is learning from, we are going to have a bad ass QB.

Defense:
Its on! This defense is getting after it and though it may be a feast or famine defense, it's obvious that the days of Romeo's read-react defense is gone. This is attack, attack and attack some more. I think Poe and TJax are going to take big steps in the right direction this year.

Special Teams:
What can you say? They looked awesome all preseason long.

I see shades of Marty ball coming with a ball control offense, relentless defense and strong special teams. We just replace the power running with dinking and dunking in the passing game.

Actually it makes sense to me.

One thing you did see out of Philly teams was a large(in comparison with most WCO based teams) % of 3/4vert concepts (which are now also used by McCarthy and Payton, who is more of a hybrid but I digress).

If Alex has shown in practice and TC (and I don't know, I wasn't able to make it up this year) proper ball placement+velocity, as well as utilizing back-shoulder throws on those 2 concepts, then it's quite possible that the KC staff doesn't want to make that evident before the season starts.

If they're going to lose a game they shouldn't, which seems to be their MO every ****ing season, it will be to the Browns at home.

Sounds like just another 10 win season for the Chiefs.

I'll take a 10 win season anytime over that shitty season last year.

We really didn't see any QB rollouts or boots, and we didn't shift guys around very much (like or hate McCluster, you expect that the gameplan is that he's going to move around a lot pre-snap). We didn't see very much of a spread concept and you saw the Chiefs tinker with the pistol with Chase in the game, not much with Alex Smith, which leads me to believe that you'll see it a few times once the season starts.

I rarely comment and have been around a long time - but your ENDLESS trolling and negativity are just plain sickening. I find myself wondering what could have happened in your life to make you so, so boundlessly negative about virtually everything.

Why not try - just try - to look to the positive first - instead of the negative - you might find the days to be a bit more enjoyable - and you might find trolling as boring as many of the rest of us.

I think the typical response to this is... "the Chiefs have sucked forever! so why should any of us have any belief that something will change?!?"

He just wants to play the role of the anguished and troubled artist. He thinks its cool and hip to be the hater or act the role of the jilted lover.

Its fairly sad, I wish he would just go ahead and blow his brains out or eat a bottle of sleeping pills and get it over with.

Or maybe get laid once in a while, that would probably change his mood completely.
