A Sad Story: Why Can't People Leave Harmless Animals Alone?

I read this story on the front page of the KC Star this morning. I drive by Elmwood Cemetery on Truman Road every day on my way to work. I've seen Ella the Deer on a couple of occasions. She was more or less a "pet" inside the cemetery, and didn't harm a soul. Why somebody would shoot this gentle, beautiful animal for no reason is beyond me. Why do people have to be such assholes?

Story is here:

Doesn't matter.

Miss the deer or the bullet goes through and a kid walking down the street takes a bullet to the face...

Those who shoot animals are compensating for something...

or lack of something. Miniscule something, perhaps?

Exactly what I was thinking. If he really needed the meat to feed his family he could've field dressed it and packed it over the fence.

I feel very bad still for the families who visited the cemetery and looked forward to seeing Ella there. The people who keep the cemetery cleaned up are volunteers. It's just such a shame to lose a little ray of happiness in an otherwise dreary place.

At least they know who did it now, and he's been punished.

Me too, whoever did it is the same guy who wont atleast try (without killing himself or someone else) to avoid a small animal in the road, but actually swerve to get it.

I have O problems with deer hunting for food, or even sport, because they do need thinned, if not they're not only a danger to people but they're a danger to themselves - diseases, starvation etc.

But to shoot something just because its there, and is easy prey, is lowlife shit, i bet the guy who did it has one of those dumbass "sack of balls" hanging from his hitch and some "I'd Rather Be Cummins Than Strokin" stickers in his back window.
