50/50 loved the Marty and Dick choices, hated the Gunther pick and I am leaning that way on Herm.

Herm seems like the right idea at the time

In my opinion, Herm looked like a good choice on paper. He was "known" for building up defenses. Not offenses. Our defense was headed in the right direction before Herm came to KC. Our offense was in decline. Defense is still on the rise and will get better, but our offense has lost it's luster.

Anyway, I think the coach we need is Pete Carrol. We may not be able to sign him, but he is the right fit for the Chiefs. He brings out the best in his players and is a true coach who doesn't focus on just one aspect of the football. If we could sign him, he could use his college knowledge and draft well.

Marty was a good choice. We needed an experienced coach that could build a team after our misery of the 80's.

Gun was a bad choice but we were trying to promote from within so I won't critisize it too badly.

Vermeil was a terrible choice. He was only interested in building an offense so he could stroke his ego and prove it was he and not Martz in St. Lou. For Carl it was a last desperate gasp to burnish his rep. The team suffered while both men attempted to stroke their egos. We the fans suffered.

Herm I'll give some fair time to. He has to de-DV this team which will take time and pain. I'd have rather seen a young assistant NFL coach hired so we could grow our own coach instead of having the ex-HC of whomever. I also doubt Herm was worth a draft pick. However he deserves a fair chance.

No thanks. Pete Carrol pretty much destroyed the Pats before Bill B. took over. He's a great college coach but a proven loser at the NFL level. Much like Steve Spurier.

Can't believe the MU folks have not offered up Pinkel.

Alden could replace Carl...

Pete Carrol

One would think that he is a proven loser in the NFL. He may have been earlier in his career, but his triumps at USC have made him a better coach. Besides, what makes Herm better than Carrol? Herm completely destroyed the Jets before coming here. Why not pick the best college coach over one of the worst in NFL?

Because Pete Carroll's methods don't translate to the NFL the way they do to college ball. Think Steve Spurrier.

If we're going to hire a college coach, we should do what the Dolphins did. Personally, I'd love to see Kirk Ferentz coaching the Chiefs.

One would think so, but the list of teams that have interviewed him for their HC job over the last 5 years says otherwise...

Is there any Iowa Hawkeye bias there?

Ok, lets hire the coach of a middle-class Big Ten team. Good call there. Besides, being the cyclone fan that I am, I find this claim absurd. Nick Saban is doing ok. So, why not try Pete Carrol.

At least you admit that you're a Cyclone fan. It's obviously clouding your judgement.

Kirk Ferentz is one of the hottest NFL coaching prospects out there. And that's a FACT.
