Could DCS feel more secure in the Chiefs future under Pioli?

No. No he could not.

Quite a change from Carl. Carl was all about self-aggrandizement. Pioli just comes across as a smart guy who loves football and wants to win.

It just sounds to me like Pioli is being cool and calculated in his search for head coach. I don't think he is going to sign a new head coach until he finds the perfect one. He will just hold on to Edwards until that time. No reason to sign a head coach and then fire him a year later when a better prospect surfaces.

I agree to an extent but I also don't agree with waiting on a HC after the Senior Bowl and all that combine shit starts, because if Herm stays, we get one more season of "his" players. dont know how much say he will have or if Piloi has last word in the draft room.

If we are waiting this long, and some of our coaches are leaving etc. It really sounds like we are going after Cowher next season and Herm is nothing more than a lame duck this season.

I do think we should keep Kuharich

We aren't getting any more "herm" guys even if he stays. Pioli is in charge of the draft, I think thats been made pretty clear. Really if Herm stays it just shows what a Puss of a guy he is. He knows he's out, knows he doesn't have any say on the players, and probably won't have any say on the replacement coaches we all ready have to bring in. If Herm was half the "stand up guy" every one thinks he is he'd walk away with a little humility left.

He quits, he gets nothing.

He gets fired, he gets the remaining $3M on his contract.

Humility (in the eyes of a fan), or $3M?

You choose.

Well then Herm isn't going to have any motivation to coach at all and this team in 09 very well may be worst than this current season.

I mean I know money is the only thing keeping Herm from just walking out the door with his bag of shit, but really he probably doesn't have to worry about money to begin with, whats it worth working the hours a NFL HC does and all the bullshit that comes with it, we're probably gonna have another losing season again and now Herm's pretty much gonna have no say about anything. To Herm as a coach, whats it worth to him?

All fingers IMO are pointing to that we are keeping Herm and waiting for Cowher in '10

I expect interviews with Ravens candidates and MAYBE with some Cards personnel.
I wouldn't rule out Pittsburgh either.

So we're keeping Herm, but letting all his assistants walk?

Priefer: Gone.

Gibbs: Gone.

Gunther: Soon to be gone.

Gailey: Interviewing with Tampa.

Sorry, but it doesn't wash. How do you keep Herm, and expect to fill your OC and DC positions, when they know the HC is a lame-duck?

If they had any intention of keeping Herm, they wouldn't be giving the rest of the league permission to raid the staff.

No reason to keep someone around who has proven they can't do the job just for expediency. I don't want the Chiefs players subjected to this scheme and learning this way of football any longer.

This. We've got too much potential superstar at a few positions to be dicking around with Herm.

I was actually suprised. yeah it has some fluff too, but after I listened to it, I felt pretty good about Pioli and the coaching situation.
