Would Pioli trade for Anquan Boldin?

http://deadspin.com/5134539/super-bo...-anquan-boldin

Quote:
Wearing a lime-green shirt, Boldin tried to bolt for the stadium exit before a small group of media caught him. Someone asked if reaching the Super Bowl eases what has happened between him and the franchise. "That's not an issue," Boldin said. "Like I told you guys at the beginning of the season, my main goal was to do this. I've come through with all of my promises. I fought. I gave my heart to this organization. It's paying off." Does he want to stay in Arizona? "Next question."
Okay, I know Boldin is too close in terms of style to Bowe, BUT. He's definitely an elite, Pro Bowl talent. I mean, he came back from that crushing hit against the Jets without missing a beat. Would Pioli consider taking a chance on Boldin (the same way he took a chance on Moss) in order to have an instantly improved receiving corps? You would have Boldin at #1, Bowe at #2 and maybe a rookie speedster in the slot. Fitzgerald and Boldin are kind of similar, and somehow the Cardinals had success with those two.

Thoughts?

I'm going to go with a no. We're not where we need to be right now as a team.....to be trading for other teams players. If we were set to make the playoffs next year and our only hole was the WR position....then yes. As it is right now....we need ALL of our draft picks to build a foundation for this team for years.

Coming from the organization that gave Randy Moss a 3rd try, I wouldn't rule anything out.

From what I see is that Boldin has two issues...

1 - He's a top flight WR who wants to be paid as such. Remember he wasn't a high draft pick.

2 - He probably doesn't like being 2nd fiddle to Fitzgerald. Seems like he hasn't gotten many balls this off-season.

If he came here he'd probably be paid and he's immediately be our best WR. I'd welcome him in a heartbeat. The guy's a stud.

Heh. That's what non-Chiefs fans like to refer to as "post-season" or "playoffs."

They backed up an armored truck and dumped it in Fitzgeralds pocket right after the rise in the salary cap and Q got all bent and wants his share.

I'm sure people would get over it when he's putting up 1200 yard seasons.

The guy had a blow up that got caught on camera. I wonder how many arguments there are between players, coaches, etc that we never talk about because we don't see them.

I wouldn't give up a lot for him at this stage at our rebulid, but if we can trade for him without losing much or hes just let go I would LOVE to have him.

not sure how good it would work out if Haley is the enxt head coach...

FREEMAN CALLS BOLDIN A “JACKASS”
Posted by Mike Florio on January 18, 2009, 11:40 p.m.

Our buddy Mike Freeman of CBS Sports had some choice words for Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin, based on his behavior during Sunday’s NFC title game.

Freeman points out that, as the FOX cameras demonstrated, Boldin engaged in a fourth-quarter argument with offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

After the game, Boldin still had his panties in a bunch. Per Freeman, he abruptly left the field while his teammates were celebrating the victory, and then he abruptly left the locker room.

“I have to say in nearly 20 years of doing this, I’ve never seen a player more concerned about his arguing with a coach over making a Super Bowl,” Freeman writes. “What Boldin did almost never happens. Congratulations on making history, Anquan.”

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of legs this thing grows over the next two weeks.

And if it was part of Boldin’s plan to get out of town, it just might have worked.

Huge difference between Moss and Boldin.

Moss was pissed that the rest of the team didn't give a crap if the team won or lose and only gripped when the team sucked.

Boldin was bitching on the day the team won the NFCCG.

It wasn't just the sideline deal. Supposedly he left the stadium at the whistle instead of you know, celebrating a super bowl birth with his teamates.

We're in a perfect position to draft Crabtree if a WR is that big a priority.
I wouldn't trade a Day 1 pick for Boldin.
We have bigger fish to fry.
