Who finds success in the 3-4?

check all that apply. Interested to see who you guys have faith in. And think of this as a role on either the DL or at LB. Pollard only counts if you see him moving closer to the line.

And according to the above poll, the correct answer is none.
I'm thinking they envision having Curry hit the weights, and put him in the middle. He'd be a freak there.

Of course, I thought Marty was gonna do that with Donnie Edwards too.

DJ. I think he likes to blitz more than anything. He would have fun coming off that corner blitzing as an OLB.

I think DJ will have his career revived by playing the ILB position. He is not an OLB in the 34. He has the physical skills to roam behind the DL and react to the play as well as cover a RB or TE in coverage. I think he will look good in this system. McBride is a true 34 DE, so he probably will improve... not too hard for him to get better than he has been.

You couldn't be more wrong on both players if you TRIED TO BE MORE WRONG.

My understanding is that in the 34 you want guys to be around 6'2" 240-250 lbs and quick. The monster guys play the OLB. So maybe you want Curry as ROLB?

Why would you spend a top three pick on an inside linebacker in a 3-4??

The only two positions on that D worth that pick are OLB (which is the equivalent of a RDE) and NT.

You can't spend 60 million dollars on Aaron Curry to play inside linebacker. It makes him the highest paid linebacker in the league, and it will wreak havoc on your salary cap, not to mention the fact that it's just not that important of a position.

You should be spending a top three pick on a QB, RDE (OLB), LT or a FREAK DT, or WR. That's really about it.

If you could replace that void with a Raven and Peppers....don't you feel a thousand times better about this defense?

I agree with this wholeheartedly, Mr. 'Hamas' Jenkins, although a super-stud RB might also warrant a pick that high, I suppose. It presents an interesting question, though. What if (based on the system you're running and your current roster) there isn't a draft choice that really fits?

Based on our current level of suck, it won't be a problem for us this year, but it makes you wonder. Do you try and trade the pick? Select for positional depth?

Okay. I'll stick to coaching. You handle the F.O.

My bad.

No.

That defense would suck balls.

You don't think the 300 lb. DT is a good fit?

That's not the ideal?

DJ has the size to play ILB, but he's too much of a pussy. He might be OK at WILB, but that's the least important position on a 3-4 defense. He'd make a much better complimentary rush 'backer. He's not a 15-sack guy but if he adds 10lbs. I see no reason why he couldn't notch 7-9 sacks per season.

As for McBride, the dude is flat-out too small right now and doesn't have the ideal frame to grow much. He's also never shown the quickness to set the edge, nevermind the ability to control two gaps.

Hell, that ain't all of it.

I just don't get how anyone thinks that a slow DE is going to transition to OLB in 34 and be successful.

It "bottles" the mind.

It is bottling.

That whole alignment sucks ass. Tank as the DE?

On paper, he's one of the few people who could potentially fit, but at the T. He'd have to be a hell of a lot more consistent, however.

If the team actually switches to the 3-4, it demands a carpet bombing.

I don't blame the thought, though. It's the perfect time. They're terrible in the 4-3, too, so there's no better time to blow it up.
