I legitimately think it might be the best video on the Internet.

Several years ago, my company did a lunch activity where we shared youtube videos that we enjoyed. I commented about this and said that everyone has probably seen it so I wouldn't share, and I was shocked that no one knew what I was talking about. So I shared it, and it was the hit of the party.

WHAT.THE.****.DID.I.JUST.WATCH ? ? ?

I swear I thought that was an act from the original Gong Show with Chuck Barris. That would have fit in perfectly.

I consider myself a connoisseur of the internet, but somehow this had escaped my viewing pleasure. So much awesomeness in 3:16.

And count me among those who loved Bat Out of Hell. I heard the tail end of the obit on NPR on Wednesday and at first thought that Meatloaf had passed. Nevertheless, I played most of the album last night. Those songs have been playing through my mind all day. Good stuff and getting older sucks, sucks, sucks.

I’ve always liked it.

It’s Walter Hills ode to 60s biker movies with a totally 80s aesthetic. So it’s a pretty strange combo. The Steinman songs are great, but definitely not 60s. Just typical 80s pop.

It’s got a cool cast, cool vibe and good action for the era.

Funny when you learn who writes a song. Now that it's in your mind, if you compare the Meat Loaf stuff to Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" to Air Supply's "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All", they all sound very similar.

It's like Neil Diamond, who wrote "I'm a Believer" but The Monkees made it popular... but you can hear Neil Diamond singing it in your mind.

So many great songwriters who never really made it that big singing their own stuff. Like this dude.

When I think of him, Dionne Warwick immediately comes to mind.

I had a weird grudge against Warwick back in 80s, mostly from me liking 70s Stevie Wonder and hating 80s sappy ballad SW in comparison. That's What Friends are For and Kenny/Dolly's Islands in the Stream were my most hated songs in that time period.

My turnaround on ballad Stevie

Spoiler!

Re: Bacharach, I knew 'who' he was, but not a whole lot, until I saw Best Friend's Wedding. Which is basically a thinly-disguised Bacharach musical. That's what I think of when I hear his name these days.
