My argument is that with the draft picks we will still have, if we are smart about it, we could get the depth we need. We don't need a first round S or NT or C.
We do however need a game changing QB. That would be worth the move. |

The bottom line is that if there's a sure-fire hit at QB, the Chiefs should pay whatever it takes to get that guy because the other holes are comparably negligible and able to be filled through FA and middle to late-round picks.

Ideally, Lewis should play the role that McGraw has for this defense: a third "swing" safety who is a special teams ace. He does a lot of things ok but nothing all that good. He's a fine player for depth, but he probably shouldn't start.

Ok I'm fine with that. But we don't need to draft Safety that high in the draft to replace him.

I agree, but most teams are going to have a few positions where they have someone like this on the field. You make do until you get a chance to get someone better. Unfortunately, we are this way at QB.

And lets be fair QB or no QB if we continue to be 32nd in roster spending we aren't winning shit.

As for Barkley, I'd say 50/50 shot on him declaring early for the draft. He's hitting his draft stock ceiling now, so staying at USC for another year won't do much for his positioning. He's in the mix for going in the top 3, and I'd say he has edge on Landry Jones right now.
There are quite a few QB starved teams, so I'd put his chances of being the next person off the board very high. Outside of having a shot at being the #1 selection overall and a few million extra on a rookie deal he'll probably never see, he won't gain much. If he stays, well it's because it's USC. If Barkley was anything like Cassel, I guess. Both of them went to USC is about where the comparisons end though. |
