If you're arguing that recruiting the best high school players in the country is a bad choice for an elite college basketball program, it just seems like there's a pretty obvious way to counter that.

UK had a NIT team a few years ago, so it seems that it's more or less luck of the draw.

It doesn't really matter anyway, though, because "one and dones" are on the way out if the Adam Silver and the NBA get what they want in the next few years (and they will).

Not sure how that difference matters at all. Nobody in his family (including him) is going to talk to the NCAA and that means Cliff is done playing basketball at the NCAA level.

What a cruddy way to end a college career. Sometimes things just don't work out well. I guess this is one of those times.

Feel bad for Cliff especially if he knew nothing about the loan. Just a bad situation all the way around.

So, what do you guys think of our first round opponent? I saw they had 23 wins and was like "huh?, how did we get an opponent with 23 wins?" Then I looked at their RPI (#103 yeah, screw Kenpom and their pay site) and their strength of opponents. The highest ranked team they beat was #78 UTEP. And they only have 2 wins against top 100 RPI teams. They only played another 6 teams in the top 100 RPI. And in those games, admittedly, they did have a couple of close scores but still lost. Most of the teams they played were in the 150-350 RPI rank.

So, I guess we should not be too worried here. Yes, they are 10-0 in their last 10 games. However, the highest ranked team they have played in that stretch is #274.

Yeah, sucks for Cliff who now has the choice of whether to go pro being made for him. Also sucks for KU who lose any real chance of making a NCAA run this year and whatever Cliff may have provided next year had he stayed.

New Mexico St. is more like a 12-13 seed in terms of quality and could definitely beat KU. They play at a slow tempo and destroy teams on the offensive boards (which KU doesn't have the personnel to really be able to stop). I'd expect a close game with a KU win, but it could easily go the other way.

KenPom gives KU a 84% chance of winning the game, lowest of any of the 2 seeds (Arizona-98%, Virginia-95%, Gonzaga-94%). Kind of shows how much better NMSU is than the other 15s. Think of them as a much less talented Baylor with no Gathers.
