Watches: Citizen Eco-Drive, Tissot or Victorinox?

Looking for a new watch, and seem to have it narrowed down to three. Would love to spend $1000+ on a watch, but decided to keep it under $500.

I keep coming back to these - wondering if anyone has any experience with these specific watchmakers, or have any suggestions in my range.

Thanks!

Orient - a good everyday watch...

I've quite a few watches in my collection: a Seiko, Bulova from my gramps, a Victorinox, a super-slim Citizen, some old Timex, and a two year old Seiko - sarb033. I often, okay almost everyday, find myself alternating between a pair of watches from Orient watches at orientwatchusa. I bought a blue and an orange faced automatic Mako watch and I love them.

Each of them cost around $75 so I didn't have to worry about getting the crystals scratched, the SS bands scuffed, etc. I wasn't expecting much for that price. Now they've sent me a 40% off code - holiday40 - but I still have these around and I don't even wear my Seiko. Don't get me wrong, I love my Seiko but I can't afford another one at the drop of a hat. The quality of these is really very good.

If I leave them on my desk or in my drawer I don't have to worry about my kids or students taking/breaking them. Hell, I get looks of bewilderment when I tell them that my watches wind themselves.

I'm not telling you to buy them. Just look...

RainMaker

p.s. A good Seiko site - seiyajapan.com - I just love the looks of the SEIKO Automatic Presage SARX017 - at $508. It's got a classic design that not everybody appreciates

You can get a fake Rolex for under $300. And some of them actually tell time.

Something in the 40mm range - I like a bigger watch with some heft to it.

But most importantly, I want a quality timepiece that I can wear casual or dressed up that will last me 7-10 years or more when properly cared for.

Based solely on the multiple comments about Tag Heuer, this looks nice:

Amazon has been having Momo Design watches for $900 on and off. They look nice.

Huh? I rarely notice people wearing a watch.

I had a couple Ironman Triathlon when I was in Jr High and HS.

Just completely useless nowadays.

That's because you don't have an heirloom. They appreciate in value.

I don't understand how, as a man, you can't appreciate the extraordinary craftsmanship and design that goes into a nice watch.

I get the same feeling about nice watches as I do about nice cars and high quality firearms. There is just something viscerally desirable about those things.

Because, other than telling time and date, it serves no purpose. I have a smartphone that does that for me. I seriously do not know a single person who wears a watch, or has worn a watch in the last 5 years.

Loved them when I was growing up, though. Had 3 Timex from 1977-1990.

Sadly, most don't.

The only brands that appreciate are pretty much Patek Phillipe and Rolex. And Rolex is going to fall off the map because they sourcing parts out of Asia.

If you're going to spend money the money on a nice watch, I'd urge you to spend more, like $3k plus. If not, just get a cheap watch or use your smartphone. The sub 3k range is the least worth it.
