After seeing how the “average” person reacts with stressful situations, I hope like hell our average intelligence raises quickly after all this

We were all smart enough to persevere for many years as Chiefs fans to see them reward us with an epic postseason run and a Super Bowl championship. That brings all of us - save JakeF, RedDawg, and okchiefs - onto the 'above average' level.

I would like to think that I am smarter than the average person. I've done well enough at life that I can live contentedly.

However, I know there are plenty of people way smarter about a lot of things than I am. High School was a breeze for me, getting nearly all As with only limited work - then I got to college and had to really work - meanwhile around me were students cruising as easily as I had in HS plus being athletically or artistically talented with what seemed like little effort.

A work colleague and I discussed the phenomena of feeling smart. Of course we both thought we brought talent to the company. But around us were coworkers who exhibited idiocy on a weekly basis, some daily. Without fail, each of those low performing employees thought of themselves as clever, smart, hardworking, or had some "other smarts" - in other words - valuable employees.

So if they all thought they were smart when they clearly were not, just how accurate is anyones self evaluation?

I may not be smarter than the average citizen, but I am pretty sure I am smarter than the mouth breathers that tend to populate the DC lounge.

Feel like this question has too much common sense involved to actually be "tricky." Short of being brain dead the answer should be in your head before you even start thinking about it.

At least with the bat and ball question that was posted earlier you had to think about it for even a split second before you realized its just a long winded way of asking whats 10 divided by 2.

Here's a golden oldie

- An apple costs 40 cents, a banana costs 60 cents and a grapefruit costs 80 cents. How much does a pear cost?

I've heard that one before and after I was given the answer I just left thinking that it was reeruned. There's no logical reason to ever come to the answer.

When I heard it the didnt ask how much a pear cost and instead just asked, "How much is a pear?" The only thing I could think of was 2 as if it was a play on words. Then I find out fruit is sold by the vowel... stupid.
