Sucks to be them. No rule changes needed.
the greatest defense in the world couldn't stop a "broken" and "figured out" Mahomes

obviously it was the rules that the Bills had wanted that caused this!!

I posted something similar to this last night.

The overtime inequity thing always pissed me off, until I heard Colin Cowherd say something about it that really made sense. Nobody can say that it wasn't fair their team lost in OT, because that team had a full 60 minutes of game time to avoid OT. How can you argue with that? There's always one dropped pass, one stalled drive, one missed block, one failure to execute, one boneheaded play call, one missed field goal or extra point, that results in points not being scored, and in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter if it happens in the first quarter or with time expiring in the fourth. Points are points. I'd believe this regardless of yesterday's ultimate outcome. Win or lose, I'll never whine about it again.

Also, three years ago I paid $500 for a nosebleed seat and drove a thousand mile round trip in a ****ing blizzard to watch the Chiefs get screwed by a coin the exact same way. So anybody bitching about it today can kiss my ass.

We already know better. We had 16 weeks of proof that our defense was horrid and couldn't get a stop in crunch time.
Sure Sutton\Ford got the most blame as they rightly deserved. But at the same time it sucks that Pat didn't get a chance to respond.

Sure it sucks. But it was like #5 or #6 on the list of things we were upset about after the game.

Yep. In fact, when the Chiefs proposed changing the OT rules, I opposed that because I thought it looked like sour grapes. The Chiefs had, IIRC, three chances to stop the Pats in OT. They failed. I blamed them.

A lot of people saying we got lucky because we won the toss. And that's probably true.

The Bills got lucky when they fumbled and the ball bounced right back to Allen.
The Bills got lucky they didn't get called for holding Sneed on the opening TD play.
The Bills got lucky they didn't get called at least once for 2 or 3 illegal hits on Patrick.
The Bills got lucky that we missed a FG.
The Bills got lucky that we missed an XP.

So it all evens out I guess in the end, right?

The Buffalo fumble also led to a punt that put KC at the 1 yard line. Basically a 60 yard shift in field position on a lucky bounce with the fumble recovery.

The Chiefs gave up three long 3rd down conversions and then got the ball run down their throat. They could've gotten a stop at any time and didn't.

In that same vein, Mahomes was 6-for-6 in OT. The Bills #1 defense couldn't force a single incompletion.

Let them bitch, they had plenty of chances.

'fixing' this issue is logically appealing to those that haven't dedicated much thought to it. Cheap clicks.

You had 60 minutes (which in some respects is actually 3 hours) to demonstrate you were the better team. Chance is going to be involved eventually. Hell, the coin toss is part of the tiebreaker at the end of the season if all other things are equal.

I'd agree it was shit when it was only a FG. But now? If you lose the toss, you only have to stop a TD if you want your QB to have the ball.

I don't normally participate in the Chiefs-getting-disrespected stuff as I don't watch sports channels besides the actual games and I don't read many American articles, but it sure feels like there's a broader base of people gnashing the teeth about this than there were 4 years ago. It was in one of our papers yesterday.

I’ve been wondering if Belichick would’ve gone for it on 4th down, even within FG range, figuring Mahomes would’ve driven for a TD. Going for it against 15 wasn’t in vogue then, but BB might’ve been ahead of his time. We’ll never know.

I went back and looked at the threads, it was bitching about Sutton\D and the refs equally lol. Typical

I know I was in favor at the time and still am about changing the OT rules in the playoffs. I really like the Ravens idea it would introduce alot of strategy into it.

It’s a stupid rule. We got screwed last time and the Bills did this time. Still very happy and deserved karma for us but it can’t be right that one QB can never even get a chance to put right their D letting the side down.

If it’s about player safety and injuries make it for knockout games only and scrap OT altogether in the regular season and have draws be a result.

Every play matters. Buffalo defense was well-rested in the first half. They allowed Mahomes to pull some magical 3rd down conversions on 2 TD drives in the first half. Stop him on some of those 3rd downs and KC loses in regulation. Buffalo had plenty of chances to win before overtime. They were even helped along with Butker missing 4 points on 2 kicks.

They had two big chances to stop us. 13 seconds and a full drive in PT. If you can't then you are not going to be champ and shouldn't be champ.
