Pats Cheating Comfirmed

According to the report, the league sources say the NFL determined 11 of the 12 footballs used by the Patriots were under-inflated by two pounds per square inch each. Per NFL rules, footballs are required to be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 PSI and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces.

Amnorix:

It is hard to feel envy toward the New England Patriots. The Patriots have been marred in controversy for well over a decade. They brought this on themselves.

Nevertheless, my heart goes out to Patriots' fans in the latest embarrassment for the nation to see.

Best,

D.

I imagine the haters will continue to disagree, but unless you think Belichick is an incredible liar (and there is no evidence whatsoever of that), the Patriots as an organization didn't intentionally do anything to cause this deflation situation.
Prediction: If the following scenarios happen, bandwagon Patriots fan Assnorix will vanish from this message board…

1) The Patriots lose in the Super Bowl.
2) The NFL exposes that Belichick and Brady were lying and did in fact know and orchestrate deflate-gate.

Assnorix's only knowledge of the Patriots before Belichick and Brady started winning Super Bowls in New England is what he/she/it reads from Wikipedia.

I mean they only came out and said they thoroughly checked and corrected balls 30 minutes into the game...but I cant find diddly about what they did PRE GAME...
Why?

WHy not wait to see the ref's write up or the NFL report?

Pawnmower, I don't know what you're looking for, because we're not going to get a signed and notarized memo from Walt about checking the balls. We won't have 100% conclusive proof of anything until they're done with their investigation. The fact is though, multiple reporters have spoken to those involved, and no one at all doubts that the balls were checked before the game.

This is from Peter King's Friday column:

Quote:
I am told reliably that:

The 12 footballs used in the first half for New England, and the 12 footballs used by the Colts, all left the officials’ locker room before the game at the prescribed pressure level of between 12.5 pounds per square inch and 13.5 psi.

All 24 footballs were checked by pressure gauge at halftime. I am told either 11 or 12 of New England’s footballs (ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported it was 11, and I hear it could have been all 12) had at least two pounds less pressure in them. All 12 Indianapolis footballs were at the prescribed level.

All 24 footballs were checked by pressure gauge after the game. All 24 checked at the correct pressure—which is one of the last pieces of the puzzle the league needed to determine with certainty that something fishy happened with the Patriots footballs, because the Colts’ balls stayed correctly inflated for the nearly four hours. There had been reports quoting atmospheric experts that cold weather could deflate footballs. But if the Patriots’ balls were all low, and the Colts’ balls all legit, that quashes that theory.

The conclusion: There is little doubt the New England footballs were tampered with by a human.

Haters will hate but I have never seen Belichick respond to allegations like this. No suggestion by the NFL that he lied or was deceitful during Spygate (compare to Payton, who was found to cover things up).
It doesn't matter where they were filled. All 24 balls were checked, re-checked, and re-re-checked (and, if necessary, changed to be the correct pressure) in the same location at the same time.

Colin said yesterday he talked to a league official and he thinks the league will give the patriots a similar penalty as last time, but with a bigger fine.

Said a first rounder and a million dollar fine

Said the balls were 2 lbs light each (almost to the exact amount) and had Troy Aikman on and Troy said there is absolutely no way Tom didn't have anything to do with it and that John Harbaught tipped the refs off before the game.

Do you have a link to this?

I appreciate peter king's comments but so far the only 'confirmed' thorough check was done at half time.....

To me it seems far more likely that the initial check was either not done or not done properly ...than the check was done , the balls secure until game time and then NE lowering all the psi exactly 2.0 every ball but 1.

I'm gonna hold off my judgment until they (the NFL, not peter king) says what the custody chain of the balls was....

I will agree it looks fishy.....but I'm not gonna say I 'know' one way or the other or there is 'no possible other explanation' other than cheating

So, it seems like they've established a standard pricing rate for cheating your way to a super bowl. Seems cheap.
