So apparently, if you're not jizzing in your pants about being 3-0, and you see the problems this team has as being legitimate, then you are not a "real fan".

I gave up my true fan car a LONG time ago(when I came to CP as a matter of fact), and it's NOT being reinstated, EVER.

There is PLENTY to be pessimistic about in regards to this franchise, especially at the incredibly uninspiring Quarterback position.

But to say that I or anyone else with this view doesn't enjoy winning is ridiculous. And to say that I or anyone else with this view doesn't "deserve to enjoy the wins" is ****ing arrogant and short-sighted at best.

This franchise has, by my estimation, about 40+ years of FAIL to atone for, so forgive me if I don't just hop on ol' Andy's fat lap and start slurping his dick.

I would agree that it is not right say you are not a real fan, do not deserve to enjoy the wins, etc., because you are not satisfied with Alex Smith.

But it is an unusual phenomenon. Saw it a lot in 2011 on the Niners board.

Let's say you are like an abused child, starved, beaten, molested, and then you are rescued from your abusive environment by a well intentioned and capable relative. But instead of expressing gratitude for the immediate relief from your horrific situation, you act like a spoiled brat. "No, burgers tonight will not do. I demand filet mignon. NOWWWWWW!!!!!!!"

Like I said, it's kind of an unusual phenomenon, which I think kind of amazes people, and they tend to knee jerk with remarks like "you are not a true fan," rather than trying to help you with a rational psychological explanation, or even offer ideas for therapy.

true fan, brown shirt fan, whatever. Your team is not a laughing stock any more and the defense is very good. But you are correct to not drink the cherry koolaid just yet.

take it one week at a time, one game at a time.

If at the end of this season KC is playing better football and improving as a team, then you have a reason to be optimistic. If, however, by the 16th game you don't see much improvement and this team seems to be stalling due to a stagnant offense, then you have a reason to be doubtful. I think this is an 8-8 team which is a huge improvement and nothing to balk at.

Leaving the stadium just totally bummed out, and seeing other people wearing CHIEFS GEAR laughing and being basically unaffected by the game's outcome. That made me mad, because I thought they should feel as bad as I felt... and be pissed, and angry, and more pissed and MORE angry.

They like to drink and tailgate and wear Mardi Gras beads and if we lose, we lose. They're not emotionally invested, so it doesn't crush their soul when we lose.

Even the way the Hunt Family has operated -running this thing like an entertainment enterprise- has made me less willing to get emotionally invested. So now, I don't lose my mind when they lose. It's supposed to be fun, damn it.

I figure if we ever get good enough to actually be a legit Super Bowl team, then the entertainment value will be enough not to lose sleep over the losses any more. I do hope they win at least one more before I exit Earth.

That's pretty much my story. I love the Chiefs but, have permanently lost some passion along the way. The older you get, the clearer the big picture becomes.

It's too early to say. Right now you don't have the expectations that they will win every week like you once did, so a win is surprising and welcomed and a loss is no big deal. After a few years of winning things tend to change, you let yourself be more involved invested, and the losses become unacceptable and miserable. Just look at the 9er and Packer fans right now. If they manage to get the playoffs and god forbid make some noise a few years in a row you will be living and dying with each game once again.

Right now the fan base is in 1989 8-7-1 Chief mode.
