Alex Smith did, does, and will always suck.

Point is, he would still look better than the others.

If Romo has 5 legit interceptions... and Smith has 0 legit interceptions.

If Romo throws 3 more near-miss INTs that actually turn into INTs... and Smith throws 3 near-miss INTs that tuen into INTs..

then what do you have?

Romo with 8 INTs... and Smith with 3 INTs...

3 > 8

The point is that no one else mentioned anyone other than AS, yet you continue to bring others into it in a poor effort to exonerate bad decisions.

The facts:

He was brought here to play mistake free football.

He's made some really bad mistakes.

Fortunately, none of these mistakes were capitalized on.

Opinion - opposing defenses aren't going to continue dropping a sure INT a week.

And yet you assume it will, with ZERO evidence to support your opinion.

If you want to look at the facts, the offense has actually gotten worse every week from a TD scoring perspective.

3 TD's Week 1.

2 TD's Week 2.

1 TD Week 3.

And we played the worst defense in the league in Week 3.

Feel free to provide some factual evidence as to WHY you think the offense will get better.

"I think it will" is not evidence. It's opinion.

What teams do you consider elite? Seems like its 4 bad teams, everyone else, then Denver and Seattle. If we go 11-5 we'll be the 5th probably playing a team like Cincinnati. That's pretty evenly matched IMO.

What about Chad Hall's dropped near TD?

The point is, if you count other QBs near ints Alex's numbers would still be better and the other guys would be a lot worse.

When the response to any rational post is "3-0", then I have to disagree with you.

He's good enough to win in the regular season - not sure anyone ever doubted that. Several of us doubt he can win with this "play not to lose" mentality against the type of teams you face in the playoffs.
If you're gonna bring up dropped ints, you have to bring up dropped passes as well.

We're only 3 games into the season. There's no telling who will be there and how they'll be playing in January.

But you're usually facing an elite/near-elite QB, defense, or both.

Cincinnati is our only shot at winning a playoff game since Dalton is basically Alex Smith. No way in hell do we beat Denver, New England, Baltimore, or Indianapolis.

Facts...

Short week on the road.
Run game still not being utilized enough.
Oline is still trying to gel.
Offense still hasn't used the full playbook and still learning it.

I've yet to find a stats service that has listed that pass as a drop.

Again, you're moving the goalposts.

It's actually a logical conclusion. If a team is new, they will struggle until they familiarize themselves with the scheme and each other.

It is pathetic that this even needs to be elaborated on.

You really should read the definitions of facts versus opinions.

You listed two facts, neither of which have anything to do with the argument at hand, and three opinions.

Ok, I've been reading this board since the trade was announced and let me just say, why does everybody assume Smith will implode in the playoffs or can't win in the playoffs? He is 1-1 in the playoffs and actually played well enough to take his team to the SB.

His postseason stats (2 games): 36/68, 495 yds, 52.9% comp, 5 TDs, 0 INTs, 101.0 QB rating, 7 rush 70 yds 1 rush TD, 1 turnovers (fumble lost against NO).

He averaged 248 pass yds per game on 34 attemps per game, at 52.9% comp with a 2.5 to 0 TD to INT ratio.

Why is this mediocre? And how much different is this from what we are seeing right now really? This was against elite teams and he actually had a better postseason performance against the Giants (who were an elite D) that season than Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers. He had a better rating, TD to INT ration than Brady did. Brady did pass for more yds and a better % but he still played pretty well.

Ryan - 24/41 58% comp, 199 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT, 71.1 Rating
Rodgers - 26/46 56.5% comp, 264 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT, 78.5 Rating (1 fumble lost)
Brady - 23/41 65.9% comp, 276 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT, 91.1 Rating
Smith - 12/26 52.9% comp, 196 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 97.6 Rating
