Geno Smith vs Alex Smith - It's on.

It's on now. Geno Smith is probably going to be starting for the Jets this season.

Alex Smith will be the Chiefs QB for the forseeable future. If he's a success, we'll probably get five good years out of him.

So who's gonna win more NFL games over that time period?

Put your ten pounders on the table and make a vote

Alex: 11 wins
Geno: 8 wins

Hard to compare both individuals when one has been in the NFL for 7 seasons.

Is our D the reason we are winning games? Hell yeah! We have a SB caliber defense. However, our offense stays on the field and keeps our amazingly talented D rested. Our QB uses his legs, not just his arm, to keep drives alive, and for the most part he is smart with the ball.

I love (In the other thread) how now ALMOST INTs are real stats. Smith should have 9 INTs, there fore HE DOES HAVE THAT MANY. I read that and thought, wait, I know Ive been disconnected but our QB has thrown 9 INTs???????? Oh no, not at all, he almost did, so now HE DID. Of course hes the only QB in the league who has a stat of ALMOST INTs. Un-****ing-real people!

Get the **** over it already. We are winning. We could actually go 11-5 or even 12-4, mainly because of our D, but our QB plays a positive role in our winning games too. So change your tampons, take some midol and stop being such whiney little ****ing bitches.
You hit the nail on the head, as usual.

Wow!

What if we could go 13-3?! Wouldn't that be something! No team that ever does THAT well has anything wrong with them!

Did you know Steve Bono and Alex Smith both have 9 letters in there names to?

I also noticed Alex's middle name is Douglas so can we start calling checking downs "Doing the Dougie"?

5-0 is great. It's much better than 0-5. It's much more fun. No one disputes that.

But there's an expiration date on winning games with the formula the Chiefs have been using. We all know this. We have seen it time and time again. The Chiefs offense - and Alex Smith's play - need to look much more like what they did in the second half against the Giants or on a few drives here and there than the aggregate, if you have any hopes for winning playoff games and having a shot.

I keep seeing people talk about how much our offense 'stays on the field' but considering that it has inherited the best starting field position in the NFL, on average, and still has punted more than all but two teams, I don't think the 'stays on the field' argument really holds water.

The offense has done a great job limited turnovers, but there is luck involved there, too (fumbles popping right back to KC - such as Knile Davis's kickoff return fumble, Alex Smith getting lucky on non-interceptions). Eventually, that luck will even out.

No one disputes that the offense HAS to get better or it will cost us a game or to.But some are acting like it already has

This brand of offense to me feels different because of what happens late in games. Those were the games that we have lost so so often in the past. This year they are going down and winning the game. Years past they would have just gone 3 and out or a pick 6 would have been thrown.

It's like they flip some switch in the 4th and are a very different offense then what they were at the start of the day. They need to flip that switch earlier you can't always think that you will be in position to just flip it and win every 4th at some point it will cost you that I don't think anyone would argue.

The ball has been bouncing our way a lot and Smith has thrown some balls the could have and some that should have been picked. To say otherwise is being dishonest. But the good news is that luck has been on our side at a good time. When Alex is starting in the new offense with his new teammates and working out some bugs.

2011 Niners went to the NFCCG with that formula. Luck did run out. Two botched ST plays. Take either one away, the Niners would have been in the Superbowl.

One difference though: Alex is passing more and putting up more yards per game than he did in 2011.

There were the 2 recorded INTs from Smith that were very unlucky... one, Bowe getting manhandled from inside position on a quick-hit slant... two, the ball bouncing up off of JC's leg and bouncing onto the defender.. Perhaps, the 3rd INT was unlucky too... the rain started falling hard just as Alex threw a short one over the head of JC.. clearly the ball left Smith's hand wrong and floated.. very likely due to that sudden heavy rain.

QBs all over get lucky every week with some near-INTs.

In other words... you are trying way too hard to go against your own offense.

I kind of scratch my head at that "almost pick" stat as well. Trying to find the same stat for other QBs, and I can't. I wonder why?

also, take one of Eli's near-INTs, and the game swings SF's way... how about the refs calling momentum stopped just after the NYG running back fumbles it to us...

They also had horrible QB play in the championship game. Something that is frequently left out. 1-13 on 3rd down conversions, sub 50% completion percentage, only 5 passing first downs.
