-- ATTENTION DIRECKSHUN

I'm ready for my shower of your awesome track suggestion. I've thought about this all day - I have the bose out - I have dutch-masters - Let's do this shit - bring it hardcore, like you never have before!

I'm ready, get the records spinning!

I don't care - i'll slam dance tonight, even!

I'd slam-dance versus Mohillbilly right now and listen to Motorhead in the background.

Rare form tonight - I'm suggesting everything and staying up forever!!!

I'm even plugging in Creepshow II (muted) on the DVD.

Holy **** are a really entertaining post rock band. Rather than winding songs for 15 minutes with only occasional rewards buried in them, they get right down to the point. "Lovely Allen" is a triumphant example of their direct, loud style.

Also -- and here's one SR might like and any drummers among us will adore: this guy plays the drum part to Aphex Twin's "Flim" live. Playing any Aphex Twin song live on the drums seems next to impossible. But this guy totally captures every little snap of that super complex rhythm part.

Round of applause for the dude.

Pretty stinkin' close. I love the live horns that enter in the middle of the song.

Every man has a responsibility to know who Tom Waits is.

One of the very best Tom Waits songs ever is a gutbucket blues song buried deep on his even-more-rackety-than-usual Real Gone album. It's not discussed as one of his best, but "Make It Rain" is basically the perfect song.

SR might like this one. Hard to tell.

Vampire Weekend is one of the most brilliant indie rock bands playing today. Probably the best.

Their self-titled album from years ago ended on "The Kids Don't Stand A Chance," a perfectly written outro, short and sweet.

Which, of course, Miike Snow remixed into a five-minute extravaganza color-splosion that somehow improved the ****ing thing.

I'm almost out of gas, folks, so I'll end on this one. Thanks to SR for yet another perfect late night bullshit-esque music thread. We gotta do these every once in a while.

I'm going out on Typhoon's "Young Fathers," a perfect Irish folk rock song, that almost sounds like hyper-prog, as the song switches from one element to the next. It's almost like you smooshed four songs into the same one, but didn't overlap them -- you just cut randomly between them.

Very pleasant song, great lyrics, but mostly just a great sound.
