Did the Chiefs/Reid hold anything back the last time against Indy?

I've stated that I think Reid held back Charles and his best plays the last time we played Indy. Others have said that was their best effort, just a bad day. What say you?

Maybe the perceived "lack of effort" can be attributed to the players' knowledge of a purposely limited gameplan?

The division was still up for grabs when they played. If they held back they deserve to lose this weekend. You don't roll over because you are hiding something just because it "looks" like you may play Indy a month later in the post season.

So rather than trying to win for home field advantage, the Chiefs chose to try and surprise the Colts in Indy during the playoffs?

Does anyone else recognize how absurd that sounds?

Here's what really happened. The Colts came in with a good defensive game plan that our coaches and players didn't adjust to very well. Period.

They held back just like the defense held back in the weeks before playing Denver.

Almost as absurd as believing the Broncos might lose to the Texans or Raiders...

Well hell, who believed in august that KC could make the playoffs at all? Reid should have saved all his plays for 2014.

You don't have to be an expert to look at the probability of us winning out and Denver losing out to 2 subpar teams. We were in and at that point we weren't playing for this season, we're playing for the tourney.

Yes. Terrible rationalization... it might be quite shocking that your team might not show up for a game, but it does actually happen from time to time, and being a fan with no control over the game, there's no shame in admitting that.

Or, Andy Reid doesn't have half a brain and instead of making a few moves in the two game chess match, he deferred.

You also don't need to be an expert to realize that winning in the NFL is rarely about surprise plays and almost always about execution.

This entire topic is frustratingly stupid.

Look, before the game most simulations and analysis showed a greater than 70% that the Chiefs would play the Colts in the first round.

It would actually be more absurd to ignore those kinds of odds, in my opinion.

This isn't about trick plays.

This is about exploitation of weakness and forming a gameplan to do so.

They planned on having Smith take 5 sacks, throw no TDs and a pick. It's a great way to keep him safe and improve his fear of going downfield.
