He just didn't focus on making sure he stayed in bounds. You are correct Gordy did nothing but Gordy did make sure to cloak him enough to get him to move as close to the sideline as possible without interfering with him.

He didn't catch the ball 'in stride'. He caught it using his chest, with his left hand, over a DB's helmet. That wasn't 'in stride'. Like I keep saying, if that ball is thrown higher Bowe could catch with his hands and not have to adjust his body position- thus resulting in him having a better shot at staying in bounds.
