He may retire, I have no insider info. I'm just saying that it is an easy story for the ESPN guys or whoever to fill airtime with and all they have to do is say he's dropped "hints" that he'd "consider" it. Those so-called "hints" could actually be absolutely nothing.

What does he have to gain? A shitload of money, more records (all-time passing yards, TDs), another SB.
A lot of these guys fear the end. Not saying Peyton does, but many pros work so hard to get to and stay on top, that they don't know what they would do without that structure and discipline. T.O comes to mind as someone like that.

I just don't see him retiring while he's still so dominant. I watched him for many years as a Colts fan and I honestly believe he's NEVER been better than he is right now.

His neck is a wildcard of course, but you only get one chance at this career. I don't think these guys hang it up until they are good and ready to do so (or are forced to). There's really no coming back, so they have to be damn sure they're ready or it will eat at them that they still had something in the tank.

Maybe it's happened, but I just con't remember anyone who wasn't already planning to retire, suddenly retire after winning so they could "go out on top." I think 'going out on top' is something fans make more of than the players.
