Game manager. What is that exactly?

During the course of the season the term 'game manager' has been used frequently to describe certain QB's in the league; usually in a negative sense. I was curious if there is a consensus on just what the heck that means to people here.

To me a game manager isn't a bad thing. I see it as someone who tries to keep moving the chains, and if that takes three plays of 4 yard gains, be it running or passing, that's ok as long as the chains keep moving.

Of course if the team is down by several scores, or time becomes an issue, then longer chunks of yardage would be necessary. To me a game manager would recognize that fact and try to manage the game accordingly at that point.

What do you all think? And is the opposite of a game manager a game mis-manager?

Ryan has also been in the same system iirc, each year in the league.

He's a good qb, good enough to win a SB. Just not in his own, he needs talent around him. His contract is gonna make that tough, ie, he needs to play up to hi contract for them to win big games

He'll never win a Super Bowl.

I never understood the love affair with him. I really didn't.

The year they drafted him, they also drafted Sam Baker, who had a really good Rookie year, not sure what his deal is now though, they signed Michael Turner, had Roddy White, and every year it seems they have added weapon after weapon, including drafting Julio Jones, trading for Tony Gonzalez, and continued to add add add. They built around your franchise qb the way that you are supposed to.

THe same thing has happened with Andy Dalton.

They are one in the same qbs to me. The biggest difference is in my opinion is that one plays 9 games minimum a year in a dome, the other plays in Cincinnatti.

Cant stand either one of them.

Although, seeing Dalton fail over and over, helps when you are a browns fan.

What a garbage can.

Never ever say never ever.

With the current front office there, I agree. Tbh, I think they already blew their wad and that team is on the way to being blown up. Plus that division is brutal

His #'s have been solid.

And before the horrible year Atlanta just had, Matt Ryan as starter was 56-22 (72% winning) and the Falcons made the playoffs 4 out of 6 seasons.

Solid.

You can go on about his failures in postseason play, but as Chiefs fans we are not qualified to comment in this matter.

Why? If he wins one, I'm wrong. If he doesn't I'm right. Either way it means nothing.

He'll never, EVER win a Super Bowl.

80% plus of Super Bowls are won by guys under a manageable contract. His contract is now a hindrance to building a team around him. They've now entered the "patch it together" and hope for the best phase. At best, you can get to the Super Bowl if you have a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. He's no Manning or Brady.

Again as Chiefs fans we are not qualified to comment on this matter. Matt Ryan at least gets them into the dance which is a lot more than many teams can say. To win the Big One you have to at least have a ticket to ride, and Ryan gets them the ticket. He is also still in his 20's, for example Elway didn't break through until his mid-30's.

It's hard to win when from one year to the next you lose most of your quality starters to injury or free agency and your defense and running games are at the bottom of the barrel and you lose both starting receivers and your starting running back to injuries.

Weatherspoon
Abraham
Baker
Jones
White
Clabo
Grimes
Jackson

I know I'm missing a couple guys, but you get the point.

Every NFL quarterback needs talent around him to win.

Except Tom Brady, I guess.

Elway played in a different era.

There's an almost direct relationship between a QBs contract and the number of rings he has over the past 20 years.

Brady hasn't won a SB since Spygate, and if Manning loses to Wilson he is 1-2 in the big dance.
