In other words, you got nothing.

We're replacing a JAG with another JAG.

There's no such thing as a two-down lineman anymore.

Teams throw on first. They throw on second. They do anything at any time. It's not like you can put Tyson Jackson out there on first down with enough confidence that all he will have to do is stop the run. Shit, you don't think Peyton Manning would look at him up against Clady and immediately check into a pass?

We need a pass rush from our front three, plain and simple.

I'd like to keep him, but we have some guys that could step up and actually provide an upgrade to our pass rush. Bailey and Catapano have some decent pass rush skills.

You HOPE they have some decent pass rush skills.

Well, at least Catapano.

Bailey is what he is. Expecting much out of him at this point is silly.

I'm trying to figure this shit out. If T Jax is so good against the run, with an All-Pro NT, two All-Pro OLBs, a near All-Pro ILB, and another supposedly great run stopper at the opposite DE spot in our front 7, why do we suck against the run?

John Dorsey layed it out pretty clearly why Tyson isn't already re-signed. He said he wanted to see him create more pressure and get more sacks.

Plus, reports are out there that the guy is shooting for 7+ million per year.

**** that, let him all and give 7-9 to Byrd...which provides far more impact for that type of coin.

I'd be all over that.

But we both know it isn't happening.

And you're advocating re-signing that JAG for more money than we would be paying his replacement who could potentially be better than Jackson in the long run. Plus, it's not like we were a stellar run stoping unit with Jackson on the line.

22nd in the league in total yardage and tied for 24th in YPC. You would have an argument if we were a top run stopping unit with him in the line-up, but we were far from that.

Fact is, as much as people like to praise him for his "run stopping ability", he just isn't an impact guy along the defensive line and has very little real impact on our defense and needs to be upgraded.

Bailey will be our starting LdE and I'm looking at him being a possible breakout candidate.

No, I'm not.

You don't know Jackson would be more money and you're assuming that whoever replaces him will be better.
