Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started. Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Unless you are Sac and then you just eat a vegan diet and pack on 40lbs a muscle in a single year on a 5'11" frame and not look bulked up.

Alrighty, first day of pure strength training (low reps). I was able to do 130 lbs on my barbell squats, and 250 lbs on the leg press. Why am I able to do so much more on the leg press?
